WTF, I think you're mixing it up with sweden

Ok so Swedes invented:

BF2
The milking machine
The ball bearing
The propeller
The zipper
The safety match
Dynamite
The Turbo Engine for Cars
Innovations in Telecommunications
The Adjustable Spanner
The coca-cola bottle (Yes, it's true)
The blowtorch
The Wrench
Celsius (Fahrenheit sucks)
Parts of the refrigator
The pacemaker
The first useful phone
IKEA

Best tank ever S122
Best APC ever CV90
Best AA-missile RB70
Best stealth boat VISBY-CLASS

Nude girls..
Volvo
Books...
The internet...
Air...
boats..
water...
the moon...
Finland has the highest blonde/female-population ratio in the world according to some study I saw somewhere.
Both Norway and Sweden are considered brunette in my books.

The only Norwegian contribution, I've heard of, is skiwax. It is also their national dish.

Sweden... Well, they're swedish and are ok at it... They also like men?*

*Can someone comfirm this?

I work for a taiwanese company, and i have to say they can produce stuff like no one else, however the R&D from Japan and idea's are way better. Also Marketing isnt their strong point. Quite hard to deal with Taiwanese.

Well so far it seems that about 8 diffrent countries invented the same thing.
The invention that symbolises Australia best is vegimite though seeing as it is made from left over beer extracts (even if it dies taste like shit)

YaY USA, We come out with the first planes, cars, and computers.
Afraid that you're wrong on all three counts.

The first heavier than air plane that could actually fly was actually built by an Englishman, Percy Pilcher. However he is generally not credited because the engine broke down when he attempted to start it in public.

The first car to be driven by means of gasoline was built by an Austrian, Siegfried Marcus. We all know who designed the internal combustion engine.

Computers were first designed by an Englishman, Charles Babbage. He is generally known as the father of computing. The first actual computer (a pocket calculator) was designed by Curt Herzstak, an Austrian.

So wrong on all three counts.
1. Airplane. It needs an engine. Otherwise, its a glider. If the engine breaks down, it doesn't count.

2. Car. Its well and good that a handmade plaything of the wealthy was invented by others. Americans invented both mass production and the assembly line, making it possible for the rest of the world to afford a car.

3. Computers. Is there a hand crank on the side of the box you typed this on? No? Then give IBM the credit, for fucks sake.

Other notables:

The cotton gin. For the clothes you're wearing right now.
Adhesive tape
Post-it notes
Alternating current
Apple computers
The Ipod
Astro-turf
magnetic tape recording
electric monorail trains
band-aids
barbed wire
bar codes
baseball
basketball
football
lacrosse
BASIC
the waterbed
the blood bank
the bra, and cup sizing therefor
the adding machine
the cash register
electronic inventory tracking systems
CAT scans
the MRI (for people)
the NMR (for organic substances)
the CCD
coat hangers
safety pins
the two-way radio
Cochlear Implants
the CD
computerized banking

alright, I'm bored. enough. well, one more.

the internet.

Fine. A functioning atomic weapon. A functioning nuclear power reactor. A functioning hydrogen bomb (three stage weapon, aka the thermonuclear bomb).

Crash test dummies
cruise control

the list of American inventions goes on and on and on. I could start listing pharmaceuticals invented here, but there's not enough space.

I just wanted to say that as far as I know atomic weapons (including the fusion bomb) was developed by an INTERNATIONAL group of scientists, but if im wrong then I apologise.

Question. Since when does a country actually invent anything? It's the individuals who invent things.

good luck getting to work without this one

The 'Diff' (differential gears) - David Shearer designed a differential gear which he incorporated into the steam car he built in South Australia in 1897.

The 'Ute' - A vehicle with the cabin of a car and the rear of a small truck was designed by Lewis Brandt at the Ford Motor Company in Geelong, Victoria.1934 and called a 'Utility Vehicle'. The 'ute' has long been a favourite vehicle for farmers and tradesmen and is part of the Australian landscape.

Black Box Flight Recorder - this famous device was invented in 1958 by Dr David Warren at the Aeronautical Research Laboratories in Melbourne.

Variable Ratio Rack & Pinion Steering - invented by the engineer Arthur Bishop in 1970. This was quickly adopted by vehicle manufacturers throughout the world.

Hyshot Scramjet Engine - a very high speed air-breathing jet engine currently in the testing stage developed by a team from the University of Queensland led by Professor Allan Pa
