ok then, tip2, like lots of people in taiwan, use the Grenade launcher attachment. Take my word, it rocks once you master it, 1shot-to-kill

By 'use the Grenade Launcher', we mean use it to target people at least 50 feet away.

Always join a squad, usually the leader knows what to do and there is safety in numbers. I would suggest be a medic or support on a squad when first starting out. You can never have to many medics and helping the squad by keeping them alive or well stocked with ammo will make you indepensable.

Try out all the kits and settle on one you like the best until you get comfortable. Then you can start mixing it up.

Swap kits during a game - Many of the kits left behind nowadays will have the unlocked weapons attached to them.

Here's what I did to get pretty good...

Since vehicles are one of the most important things in the game, hone your skills on those.  Spend time in single player maps learning the ropes on things such as helos, jets, and tanks especially.  I spent a fair amount of time learning how to pilot a helo on singleplayer and it worked out pretty well.

I also agree with the adage "practice practice practice" - try your weapons classes on singpleplayer, too.  The AI is easier to kill (usually) then online real players, so test out what works and doesnt work for you.

Tip #1: Be smarter than the other people.

Try to manipulate the situation so that they:
Either do not know you are there, or are not certain where you are.

EXAMPLE: if theres a big battle going on at a bridge or a choke point for example, sneak around an alternate route so you can get behind them. When you do come up on them, you can sometimes kill a whole squad by yourself. If there is a lot of fire coming from in front of them, they might not even clue in that their buddy next to them just got shot in the ass instead of catching one between the eyes.

Sometimes retreat is the best strategy.
EX: Run around a building and out of site. Turn around, crouch and be ready for them when they follow. 90% of the time if you have even approaching good aim, you will get the kill with them hardly damaging you.

Tip #2: pick the right gun for the terrain.
EX: shotguns might be utter ruin to enemies in ally fights, but if your route is up a wide street or open field, you would be much better off with a long-gun.

Circumstances always favor the prepared, organized force.
If you are running with friends, that guy that pops out at you is going to die MUCH quicker.
Lead your enemies into ambush.
Avoid exposing your entire body to enemy sight. ( even a leet sniper can not shoot in two directions at once)
Motion draws the eye. ( I once had an entire enemy squad walk past me because I froze. Then I gave them all a pkm enema)

AIR VEHICLE TIPS.
The only way anti-air missiles have a hope of hitting you is when they are launched from behind you. always be aware where all fixed sams on the map are, avoid giving them up-the-kilt shots on you.  Check your six frequently to make sure someone isnt sneaking up on you.

Helicopter Tip: The above does not apply to you when you are standing still. Which leads to heli tip #2: ALWAYS keep in motion. Your gunner(s) should be able to lead their targets just fine as long as you arent turning and weaving like a madman, but simply denying your enemies a no-deflection shot on you quadruples your chances to dodge.

Ok, I have a question. I want to practice a bit on single player, but something strange happens. Its like my mouse locks up at points. Just stops responding, then works again. This happens all over the place, my mouse locks up and then goes fine, and does that every couple of seconds. This is strange because it isnt anything with my mouse, Its fine all the time on multiplayer...

Well Im a total noob. Any tips

My nick is killaer111111 in the game...and I pretty much suck. I need all the help I can get.
Just shoot on sight m8. Ask questions later.
No, don't shoot on sight. I have a tendency to do that sometimes and all of them end up in TKs.
Accidents happen m8. It's part of the game and life itself.

Nope thats deffinetly not it. It runs without the lock up fine on MP.
And 2nd...what exactly is SPM
yeah I learnt that hand grenades are awesome at taking out that peticular group of annoying people...But they can also hand you a nice ammount of tks. Like when you throw 2 grenades at an enemy. Your teammate sees one explosion, continues. Ahh..its like in slow motion. BOOM. And then you get punished for a TK

Basically, as thouroughly said above, practice.  For handling aircraft (I.E-barrel rolling, immelman's turns, loops, not crashing, etc.) and other things you can do without any other players/AI, create a local server, and unless you have a LAN where other ppl may hop on at any time, you can be totally alone in your playground of doom.

For some things, you can practice bashing AI.  One tip-Operation Cleansweep has 1 fighter-bomber for both sides with 16 players, so you can practice flying there.  Doing all this, you can also have a tentative playing style set out.  However, that playing style will change when you go online-things which devastate AI will just get you killed against real players.

Finally, go to unranked servers and practice.  You may want to get some Xfire friends/a clan to help you out.  Within 6 months, you'll get to know about how good you are and you will certainly have a very good style set out.  Also, don't be ashamed of KD ratios under 1:1.  Due to the nature of statistics, some ppl havta have KD ratios under 1:1, or else everyone would be stuck at 1:1, and there would be no-one with ratios over or above 1.

Better than what I had when I started out. But I suddenly got my head around the whole idea of the game.

In helping yourself not die, I find being more wary of the whole premise of battlefield helps.

Tips:

1: Don't go capturing flags by yourself. Always have people around to help you. It's faster, and leaves you less open to attack whilst capturing the spawn. If you make a flag go neutral, a lot of enemies are going to be heading that way. At least with a squad you can have a chance of fighting back.

2: Avoid going on foor through vehicular hotspots. Certain places in maps will always have vehicles running through them, and you'll be an easy target. Get used to travelling in vehicles rather than on foot, and in city based maps, start using alleyways to move about rather than the main roads. The roads in a map like Karkand are dominated by the armour - the alleyways will keep you alive.

3: Your grenade launcher is not an effective anti tank weapon. Sure, you'll take a few bars off it, but that tank driver will be looking for where the nades came from. And those are grenades that could be put to use elsewhere.

4: When capping a point, don't just sit there and stare at one entrance. I keep moving, constantly strafing in a circle, turning around and checking exits for any sign of enemies.

5: The stationary rocket launchers are fantastic against armour. A good shot at the rear or the treads of a tank will grant you a kill.

6: Be wary of any supplies nearby. You never know where you will find a medic kit that you dearly need.

7: If on a building roof, and you come under fire, check the direction of fire indicators on screen. Too many times when I am a sniper do I see people just hide behind an object and stay still, hoping that i'm on the opposite side.
All of these tips are great, and, were I to see this thread before his reply, I most likely would've said a lot of the same things. Also, one of the other here mentioned the http://www.secretsofbattlefield.com/hitpoints.php website. VISIT THIS PLACE! When being bombarded by an enemy tank, knowing the weak spots is essential.

Besides that, I have some tid bits I'd like to add...
1.) Increase your sensitivity for all outlets of combat.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this one, as this is alteration can be extremely critical when the fray calls for precision and dexterity. My settings are as follows: Infantry - 3; Aviator - 8.5; Helicopter - 10; Land Vehicle - 5; Boat - 5.

2.) Know control points' respawns.
When your team sucks and you have to take the initiative needed to end your tickets from falling like a landslide, if you don't know this vital piece of information, you won't be that army of one you sometimes will have to be.

3.) Maintain a confident level of skill with your equipment.
If this is mental frame of mind is lacking, and you care about your stats, then I suggest creating an account based solely in the purpose of equipment familiarization, whether it be jets, choppers, tanks, or whatever. Your venture into singleplayer was a great idea, but the practicing in real multiplayer circumstance is what counts.

4.) Unlock your weapons based on quality + badge yield.
Personally, I'm maintaining a fairly equal level of play on all class kits until I've received all "Expert" badges. When I first made my unlocks, I chose the ones that support more than two badges. For instance, if you get the L85A1 and the G36E first (provided you have means of accessing the "Battlefield 2: Special Forces" expansion), the likelihood and ease of your obtaining the Medic Combat and First Aid badges increases. IMHO, your unlock pattern should look like this: L85A1 + G363, PKM + MG36, G36C, Jackhammer, G3 + F2000, DAO-12, and then the M95 - and if you don't have access to the new BF2 addition, then like this: G36C, PKM, Jackhammer, L85A1, DAO-12, and then the M95 as last again. The reason I suggest this type of "system" for the ascertaining of your new items is so that you maintain preoccupied with upping your decorations until a new unlock is ready.

5.) Do not unlock the MP7 or Scar-L until you reach 50,000 points.
Time and time again, these unlocks have shown their frailty. In every firefight I've been in (with another skilled opponent), the G36C overpowers the Scar-L in every way. Regardless of that circumstance arises the issue of the MP7. Should you be playing your Engineer kit in the wisest of methods, a vehicle should always be near. Because of this, the opportunity to pop off a long-distance kill comes far and few between.

6.) Use transports. A lot.
Not only will you eventually get a badge that just about nobody has (Expert Transport), but you can also rack up a ton of kills if you park your Vodnik, HMMWV, or whatever your taste, in a chokepoint with heavy traffic. Aside from being a nice killing machine, the Vodnik, specifically, can help you reach some heighths otherwise inaccessible. Play around with it and find some nice, inconspicuous points for ambush.

7.) Encourage squad/fireteam formation.
Combatants are always in need of quick access to the forefront. If your team has more squad leaders near more hot spots, chances are that your team will be able to overtake the other. A steady influx of your troops will overpower the enemy in a heartbeat (given that these players don't suck complete ass).

8.) Bounce with perfection.
Tired of those little bastards who hide next to the ridge of the Hotel on Strike at Karkand and not the back wall? Chuck a grenade directed at the columns and watch them s'plode. Just one of many situations where grenade skills come in handy.

9.) Master armor usage.
Supreme soldiers manning a team's armored vehicles can instantly turn the tide of battle. Make sure to follow suggestion #1, and always remain cautious. That thousand pound pull these monsters have can help your team rake in that one control point your infantry haven't been able to. Always keep in mind recommendation #2 as well.

10.) Pwn Teh Nubsagnas (nub-zawn-yuhz)
Practice makes perfect. Use and follow to heart every last morsel in my response (including the quote). You won't be a "w337 gamezner" in minutes, but you will be well on your way.

Salutations,
Kniero
