I've got a new headset and it works well, but not in BF2. I used the BF2VoiceSetup.exe and the In-game-settings and it still works, but in the game I can only use it for about a minute and after that it does NOT work any more. When I look at the settings, it is disabled againg and I have to restart the game to enable it again.
I guess that is not what it should be like, is it?

For starters be sure it is registered as the only mic device in windows.
Go to Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices, Once on that window go to "Voice" tab. On that tab under "Voice Recording" make sure the mic is choosen. If it is usb besure the usb mic is choosen, if it is an analog mic make sure that it matches the same device that is above it under "Voice Playback". Then choose to "Test Hardware" go through the guide and make sure it shows every thing is working properly when it completes.
Also If there is software that runs to help configure that mic turn it off and let windows handle the configuration for the mic.

If it keeps turning off and ur sure it does this then turn it on manually through ur profile.
Go to My Documents>BattleField 2>Profiles>Choose ur profile(default is 0001 not default)
Once in that directory go to the file "Audio.con" Open it with notepad.
The first six settings are for VOIP "1" means enabled your settings should look something like this. When your done editing this file just choose to save it.

Code:

AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.130605
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
VoIP can also be effected by a firewall so be sure the correct ports are open. You can refer to the BF2 manual for port information.

let me know if u need more tips after u try those.
Edit: fixed some typos.

Done.
Also installed BF2 again, same problem.

Edit: does the setting in the game still reset?
if so go to the profile folder and go to "default" instead of ur profile and go to the Audio.con for that also and make sure it has "AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1" for the first option.
End edit.

analog or usb?
Some times windows/ ur sound card driver get confused. if its usb plug in both your usb mic and an analog mic(speaker will work fine if u dont have an analog mic) and reboot ur machine then do the windows sound device tab again and choose the usb one and ok it. then go back to the tab and run the test hardware. then unplug your analog mic. and give it a try.

also be sure your soundcard drivers are up to date.

Check make sure your Mic is not Muted in control panel. Also have you looked at this? Make sure you set up VOIP in settings first ( root BF2 ) also have a look at this thred.
