Keep in mind, too, that if the round hit his temple, he could have been momentarily knocked out. It's happened to me a few years back, when i was hit in the temple twice in a row, and i was slanted running (on a dirt mounds [sorta a woodsball/speedball hybrid, for any paintball-illiterate]) and collapsed the direction i had been leaning whilst running. Pretty weird.
Not true. I've gotten a similar effect with a headshot on my airsoft sniper rifle (at 600 fps, although I can crank it to 800) at 175 feet.Kamikaze17 wrote:

It's the same as when you hit your hand against something and instinctively say "ow" when it doesn't actually hurt.
If something hits you in the head, especially when you didn't see it coming, you're going to be pretty damn surprised by it.

The legal limit is 300fps for a paintball gun.
