Wow. I don't put a lock on my luggage. Want to know why? So that the people who have the job of inspecting (not stealing) my luggage can do so with the minimal ammount of work necessary. I have flown over 50+ times in my life, and have never had something stolen from me. Not everybody that works the belts for Delta is a theif. Two points:
First.. all you American guys have no clue how it is to travel to your country as a foreigner. No offense, but it's true. I can understand the controls "Sir, please take off your shoes" etc... and also the 'labeling' into different danger categories of the passengers... makes all sense.. but the thing that really tops it off is the questions they ask you when applying for a visa (be it for work or travel) and at the border... I know that they have a job to do but it seemed pretty pointless and dumb anyways.. not to mention that they keep your data on for officially 40 years.
Second.. if you want to lock you baggage...There are locks approved by the FAA (!). They don't have to break these locks and can close the bag afterwords... If anybody really wants to steal anything while your baggage is out of your sight, they can do that even if it is locked/sealed/wrapped... If you have valuable stuff, you carry that on your person anyway (if it's allowed, that is :-)

Herc, Ill agree fully on the amount of hasstle People from the UK have to go through to come here. Problem is, Its only UK born that get the most hasstle. If your an Islamic person from the UK, or your not a native of the UK, you have a better shot at a visa. Why? I dont know, and i also agree it really sucks.

In theory with that rating system, something as simple as eating a different type of sandwich or driving a certain type of car could have you labelled as a terrorist if scores from other things are close enough to any sort of cut off point. I rather like my footlong meatball sub with southwest sauce, I'd hate to think it could have me detained
