Scratched CD?
installing bf2 - it's not rocket science, kids.
1. put bf2 cd 1 into cd drive
2. push close button on drive
3. when autoplay comes up, select "install"

Maybe it didnt uninstall properly the first time. Try doing a manual uninstall to get rid of whatever is left of the files on your pc, then see if it will reinstall.
You can find out how to do a manual uninstall here:

cuz he reformated as i said and ill tell him to try manual
I know why. It happened to me. Now..... when he enters another disk dont click "NO" on the window click "YES" K? When I was reinstalling, it said to me "enter disk 2, retry?" and I said no thinking ok it won't retry now, but it did, and when I said no I got that same error, so that night be it.
When you uninstall it try this,
Run the unistall application,
Remove the ea folder manually from your c\program files\
Then, Start > Run and type regedit
surf the filetree to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Electronic Arts > EA Games
Delete the folder Battlefield 2
Close everything and reboot,
this should erase all tracks of bf2 from the pc, try to re install now.
hope it helps.
cheers
