If Lebanon is given back the land taken from it, sanctions lifted, kidnapped civilians tried or released and no more incursions and they are still lunching rockets, then we can accuse them, quite rightly of destabilizing the region. ATM, agree or not, the Lebanese people feel a great injustice has been done against them and they are pissed.

Well, think about this. As long as Hezbollah exists, Lebanon will continue to suffer attacks from Israel. Hezbollah doesn't care that their rocket strikes piss off an already aggressive Israel. By continuing to do these strikes, they put their people in a situation where they will continue to die from Israel's vengeance.oug wrote:

Simply put, either Hezbollah goes or Lebanon itself goes. So, you're right. The BEST CASE scenario is for Hezbollah to dissolve. The worst case scenario is for Lebanon to remain stuck in this perpetual state of suffering, and Lebanon being annihilated outright is somewhere in between.
You forgot about the third option: Israel goes thanks to nuclear strikes from Iran or Pakistan (if it manages to oust Musharraf). Take out Dimona, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Tiberias and West Jerusalem and it would essentially be game over - Israel is a very small country (I'm glad I toured it before it's too late!).Turquoise wrote:
