Warlord is a great map. Its fun. But sooner or later you'll take all flags but the palace ones. These flags are some of the hottest contested flags in BF2 (other than Camp Scorelotsofpoints err Karkand). These battles can outmatch most you'll find in the game, as it takes skill to actually live through a good battle.

1. Get to know the palace.

There's nothing worse until you step into the palace lobby and are totally lost between the staircases and the hallways. First, just to let you know, the bottom hallway (between the stairwells) is almost completely useless. It doesn't take you anywhere. It can be used though to take a shortcut to the Third Floor flag. We'll get to that later. The stairs are what you'll be using. The right hall takes you to the Second Floor flag. If you go a bit further, you'll see a stairwell to your left and right. Taking the stairs to the left, then making a right, and finally following the halls should take you to the Third Floor flag.

2. Don't go through the backlands unless you really have to.

The backlands, by that I mean, the pool and the balconies in the back. If you don't want to be camped on like there's no tomorrow, do yourself a favor and stay as far away from those passages as possible. All the enemy does there is pull up an APC and just shoots. He rakes in the points, while you spend 10 minutes critically wounded. There's one reason you should be up there, and that will be covered later.

3. Claymores. Get used to them.

By entering the palace, you agree that you will be killed by claymores. Unfortunately, it's a fact of this palace. Snipers love the palace, they just place their claymores, hide in one of those spare rooms, and wait for the points to rack in. It doesn't take long if one flag in the palace is capped. Claymores are all over the halls like the plague, its unfortunate but its true. You're going to need to sacrifice yourself to help your team get to clay'd positions.

4. There's a grapple in two kits. Use it

Recall that I said that snipers usually hide in those spare rooms. Those spare rooms have open windows, waiting to be grappled into. Its a sneaky way into the palace, other than barging through the lobby doors and getting mowed down by 15 support gunners. Most people don't even pay attention to them. One squad leader can hide in there and let his squad keep assaulting different positions in the palace. You can get in behind most of the guys camping the palace too, and get easy knife kills.

5. Wall glitchers. Be prepared for them.

There is a wall exploit in the Palace. I'm not telling you how to do it. Be prepared for exploiters, as there is almost nothing you can do about them other than just find a different server.

6. Getting into the Palace

In all the rubble, you're going to need to get TO the Palace to have a Palace battle. Going through the front gate is like preparing to sell your body for medical research. It just isn't happening.

Now, get a huge tank force behind you and its possible. But chances are your team is somewhere else, like the TV Station. So what to do if you're alone? Using a thing called stealth, and those fences conveniently placed around the Palace perimeter, you can do a kind of break-in to the Palace.'

First you're going to need a grapple. Most of the ways in are obvious and often watched. Go to the back-left corner of the fence, and grapple over it. Then follow step #4 to get into the palace stealthily.

7. Attacking the Palace flags.

The meat of this guide. It gets on your nerves when you see all your team just going through the hall and getting wasted. Be different.

If you have the Third Floor flag, life's a bit easier. Just grab a zipline and go to the back balcony, and zipline down to the Second Floor balcony opposite you. Most do expect this though, and claymore the doors just in case.

Now that shortcut I was talking about earlier in #1. If you make a left in the first floor hallway, and go to the next hall after that, you will be taken to a staircase. The staircase can lead you to the second or third floor. Its a big shortcut instead of going to the main stairwells to the third floor.

If you're really desperate on finding a route, go to the backlands and use your grapple. Shouldn't be that hard to judge where to throw it.

Beware of grenadiers, its almost like an indoor fireworks show if there are more than 32 people there.

Support troops love the Palace. Know why? SF gave them these hideous pieces of crap called Teargas Launchers. These spread teargas everywhere, and if you don't have your gas mask on, then you'll seriously be as blind as a bat and will die soon. Teargas is another wonderful playermade feature of the Palace.

Of course you can take the easy and obvious routes, but you can kiss that beautiful K/D ratio goodbye.

8. Defending the Palace

Well, if Snake didn't remind me, I forgot to state how to defend the palace. If the Palace flags are the only two remaining, then I'd prepare for one enormous onslaught of enemies pouring through the entrance.

Defense starts at the Palace Security Office.  That flag is the main gateway into the Palace. If it is taken, then the enemy has a clear way into the Palace, and sooner or later the Palace will be taken.  There's a gun tower near the main gate. Use it. Usually the enemy never expects anyone to use it. I've racked up a lot of kills there before the enemy caught on. Beware of snipers though.
Get tanks to guard that gate too. Just as long as the enemy can't break in.

If somehow the P.S.O. gets taken, then prepare for a large invasion. There are three LMGs up on the front balconies. If you use them, you can get rid most of the infantry coming to raid the lobby. Like I said before though, beware of snipers.
An APC in the courtyard can help too get rid of some of the problem. Their suited to take out infantry and light armored vehicles, and almost no one drives a tank into the courtyard.

If the Palace is hopelessly overrun, you can try using teargas to try to blind the enemy, then kill them. But they often put on gas masks before it takes effect.

Well there's my guide. Hope it helps

If you have a good squad, you split your team when you sneak into the palace and grab both flags at once. The moment one flag gets neutralised, you know they are going to try and spawn at the other. This way you prevent that. But as I said, you need good team work.

You forgot to mention all the 'naders that love the palace too.  You'd think it was rice at wedding.

Dont underestimate the mounted RPK LMG's - they are very effective too.

Flashbangs are also very useful and use the GL too. The F2000 for the SAS really helps out.
