Lynn Hill.
In certain circles, her name is whispered like a deity. She free climbed the nose of El Capitan in the early 90's, and it remained unrepeated until Tommy Cadwell and Beth Rodden did it just this year. Every badass climber from all over the world tried and failed. She is one of the pioneers of the sport and probably the best all around rock climber in the world.
As climbing is the hardest sport in the world, imo, women win.

Nice post, but I think rugby is the hardest sport in the world (if we're talking physical abuse).

women can attempt anything they want, what i don't like is lowering standards to allow women easier access, sounds rather sexist at first, but think about it. my neighbor in miami was a captain with the fire dept., this was back at the beginning of the whole affirmative action BS. they had women trying out to be firefighters. what's wrong with that? nothing, except they had to lower the standards in the fitness tests. one woman was so short she couldn't get a ladder off the truck, but they had to accept her anyway because she was a woman. Can't complete the fireman's carry trial? that's ok, you're a woman, we'll let you in. it's only designed to make sure you can carry an injured person out of a burning building. since you're a woman, the fire will automatically decrease it's intensity once it senses you are nearby. i know if my life were depending on my fellow firefighters i'd be real excited knowing someone incapable of watching my back was watching my back.

if they CAN do the same things as men, they should be allowed to, if they can't, the standards should not be lowered.
Good post...  I totally agree.
