ok.

you WILL i repeat WILL need no less than

Intel Xeon Processors (dual core?)
Dual Socket Motherboard (up to 4 cores!!!)
4 GB ECC (registered) RAM
SCSI Controller Card
15,000+ RPM SCSI Hard Drive
HUGE Power supply (600-800 Watts)
lo-end PCI-E graphics card (essentially your not playing the game

it WILL be one expensive motherfucker
Im still new at computers, so dont yell at me, its just a rounded out figure of price.
Intel Xeon Processors- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819117029
Duak socket Motherboard- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813128300
8 GB ECC-  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820144208
SCSI Controller Card- Im sorta new at computers and dont even know what that is...
15,000 RPM SCSI Hard Drive- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6822116151
680W Power Supply- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817148022
128MB Video card- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814102303

All ending up around 3800, this is plus a decent SCSI Controller Card.

thats not a bad list, but everything needs to be top of the line, like all server related stuff.
so like 2 of those processors, mabye not as much RAM, more Hard Drive space (BF2 and SF)
more like 800 W PS
and a PCI-E interface card

i have an idea, does this site have a hardware reccomendation guide?

How do you figure more harddrive space?... It has plenty for just BF2+SF. I dont see where your going, and you could make it cheaper by adding 4 1GB Sticks of ram, subtracting 1000 from the price, and adding another processor adding like 750 more so it would be about 250 or so less than i said. plus the better power supply, say 50-60 dollars more making the price about....

$$3550.00?? Thats U.S. dollars

it was done on joint ops, typhoon rising, which can have 150 player servers.  Something like bf2 but geared more towards teamwork.  Oh and my opinion is to keep it to 64 players until we get better internet lines down, because otherwise it would be hell

That's an interesting idea. USMC vs PLA vs MEC. How it would work I don't know....

For rules you would have to have a minimum internet connection speed to join.  I would hope pretty high too.  maybe 4-5MB/S

I like the idea of 32 vs 32 vs 32.  It would be hell fighting in it.  Otherwise this 64 vs 64 looks awesome, although I would still be about half a year off the age requirement.

OMG inspiration.

US vs. MEC, on the upper half of strike, lower half of strike 2 (SICKNESS)

On the server specs,  I would go with this

http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/05/ … the_block/

This is a ram hard drive.  has back up power so you can install to it.  the conection it uses is a SATAII150,  this with all  1gb chips in it would make for very quick load times.

This mobo would help in that 128vs128 server!!!!!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813151136

Four of these proc would own any system around

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819103574

with these items,  you will easly run a 64vs64 server.   The problem is everyone else who is playing on the server.

A good rule would be,  only 100ping and less,   maybe requirer atlest 1gb of ram

just some ideas i had

Thats wrong, I have an optical line at home and am currently running 15 Mb/s

They will have much faster than this at data centers. Especially if they bundle mulitple lines into a single server.

If you ever got something like that up and running the lag would be impossible, most machines couldn't handle it.  Good luck, dreamer.

Ever play joint operations : typhoon rising? That had 64vs64 player battles in it. And those maps were HUGE.

100 hours sounds good.
.. now on the money part. if you want a spot resverd just for you on the server you have to pay monthly.. I dont know how much yet.

what about the general?

commander commands the whole team...
general the battalion?

****
money... - this bf2 thing is a cash machine for ea... -kaching-  i remember the first hours of cs...  but i know it isnt bf2;)

i would also say - at least 2 choppers for eacht team but only the uh60 - no attack choppers/no plaes... (like i said bhd style - did i say i like this movie ;P???)

and ten squads would be better... 10x6...   8x8 would be too powerful
