Yes

textures are much better, as are the models. Faces in particular are incredible, and particle effects (esp explosions) are
I just think they look like GTA:SA with slight texture changes and they're a bit more realistic.. nothing special though. Everyone was banging on about how amazing the graphics were, and when I saw it, I just thought... well, CoD4 did a much better job, and it runs on a much easier engine..and it was released a full year before GTA was.

Inb4someonecallsmeaCoD4fanboy..

EDIT: and by realistic I mean they don't have square hands.
bear in mind the view distance is crazy, and there's no loading from area to area, and it renders waaaaay more AI then previously

Cod4 = not a sandbox, open world game that has to load an entire city at once.

Again, not as complex as GTA 4. The amount of detail there is in the city, you probably miss most of it when just playing through. But I'm going through all the pigeons (flying rats) at the moment, and it's when you do this you truly realise the detail in the city. That and playing multiplayer

Once you kill all 200 (-gag-) you get an Annihilator which spawns at a location for you.

I just use the special number on my phone to get it though.

That works too, but you get a wanted level when you take it. Not that it really matters, because it's only a 2 star wanted level IIRC and you can fly out of those.

i do wish they'd make the attack heli somewhat useful though. It's fun as hell to fly, i really like how they've done the heli controls and all, but it's fucking hard to hit anything with it. The best i can do is go on inside view, and maybe get half a cycle off and on target. It's fun dogfighting online though.

7 hours play time...not exactly that quick.

23 missions. For a $20 game basically, that's quite a lot. I only got 9 hours play time out of Dead Space, and it doesn't have the countless activities to do AFTER the story is beaten, like races and shit.

I've not finished it yet because my flatmate knocked over the 360, destroying the GTA disc in the process

I liken this expansion a lot to Crysis Warhead. It's a very similar product. Cheap, parallel story to the main game, while improving and adding features at the same time.

I'm hoping to see more Crysis expansions as well as GTA episodes .

He's given me his disc for now. We used his disc to install the game on his 360 and he's using my mauled disc, and i'm using his working one.

Neither of us really have any money at the moment (students etc), but i'm hoping we'll be able to pick it up cheap at some point.

Oh, yeah. That reminds me. Should install the game on the hard drive to get them loading times shorter.

Don't. It makes the game stream the world more slowly. Very noticable if you speed around in fast cars.

Not for me...it loads a shitload faster and I rarely experience pop-in anymore.

Takes forever to load up on my PS3 however, even though it's installed

It's cos the PS3 is indefinitely inferior to the X360, surely

I'm glad you see the light.

Nah, I don't know why it is. I mean, DVD's read faster than Blu-Rays, but if they're both installed it shouldn't be a problem...yet it is.

Oh well when I installed GTA4 is just made it far worse. If i went fast enough i'd end up driving on a blurry road with no buildings around me

I uninstalled it and installed it again and the same thing happened. Used the disc since.

The PC version will do that on occasion, sometimes entire buildings/roads don't texture themselves properly until a few seconds after you've been on them.

Yep, it's all just pop-in. Better than the loading screen that'd appear between islands in Vice City though.
