Well I wanted to go back and play some BF2 again, couldn't find my disk so I borrowed a friends.

Not really sure when the last time I patched was, and I'm getting an error just telling my that my CD key is invalid when I try and join a server.

Help?

(And sorry i searched, couldn't find anything relevant)

Double post

btw, don't know why it should work. I used to use my dad's BF2 DVD and my own key-code from the BF2 CD and it allways worked fine.

If you were sarcastic: They actually do help.

I called and said I had lost my CD key, and they e-mailed me a new one at once.

Sometimes a conflict in the updated files can prevent the game from properly identifying your CD-key. Usually, refreshing your CD-key will resolve the issue. Note that this will only correct the error if you used the same Windows account to install, patch, and troubleshoot the game. If you have switched Windows accounts at any point it is recommended you uninstall, reinstall, and repatch using the same Windows login.

If you have Battlefield 2

Click Start.
Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your CD key.
note: don’t include hyphens.

Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)
If you have Battlefield 2: Special Forces

Click Start.
Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
Double click on ergc folder.

Hmm, that solution always worked for me, but then again, I haven't had that problem in 2 years.

Seems like your CD key hash has been deleted or messed up.
Run ..\Battlefield 2\Support\Battlefield 2_code.exe and re-enter your CD key.
(For SF it's ..\Battlefield 2\SupportXP1\Battlefield 2 Special Forces_code.exe.)

Note:
If you run one of those tools and do not enter anything but quit, your CD key hash will be gone and the game won't work.
So don't do it when you don't have your CD key at hand (or have your game registered and your CD key available on your EA account).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled BF2, BF2 SP then tried to launch the game at version 1.1 and I still got the "your CD key is invalid error".  Initiallly I uninstalled and reinstalled BF2, BF2 SP, patch 1.41, Euroforce, Armored Fury, then patched to 1.41 and still "your CD key is invalid"  this is pissing me off

Any other suggestions?  What is EA phone number anyway? I'm tired of waiting on their useless emails.
