I've have recently installed a hard drive, but the problem is that I can't see it in the "My Computer".  When I go to the bios and boot menu, it shows that the hard drive is detected.  So now I would need some help to get to get the hard drive to work because there is a hard drive sitting in my computer and doing nothing.  Thanks if you help me.

Try checking in 'Disk Management'

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management

Temperatures of it don't show up or anything in Everest / Speedfan etc? Just to see if Windows at least detects the drive..

Which drive is the second one in BIOS?  I only see the system drive there...

Is it that you can't see the C: drive in My Computer?

check that it is OFF in the bios (or disabled, whatever the setting in your bios is)

I have no idea which one is the second one in the bios.  Yeah, I can't see the hard drive in the C: My Computer.

Wait.  Let me clarify.

Did you install a second hard drive?

are you sure all cables are securely fastened and that the power and ide/sata is connected on both ends?

Go to your manufacturer's website and make sure you have your SATA drivers installed.

In your BIOS, make sure your SATA channels are enabled.

Try changing SATA connectors on the motherboard.

If it's visible in BIOS and it's IDE, then the jumpers are correct and it'd work in Windows.

You need to initialize the drive in Disk Management.  On the bottom right, scroll down until you see your new drive, right click and pick Initialize

you need to scroll down more in the bottom window.  looks like you have alot more in the list.  the top window only shows hard drives that have been initialized.

Right-click on My Computer and select Manage...
Then, select Device Manager...
Then, click the +'s next to Disk drives, DVD/CD-Rom Drives, IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and SCSI and RAID controllers (as applicable)...

Now, take a screeny of that (try and get all of it on the one screeny if you can) and post it up here...

Then we can see what hardware windows thinks you do have...
