Rule of law is paramount. Otherwise some kind of Nazi will win (thats what WW2 was about)
This depends greatly on the criminal acts going on. Like, if I knew of a crooked Doctor who gives false testimony in auto-injury cases, or defrauds insurance companies, then yes. If it was a large group of murdering thugs whose business somehow got tied up with mine, then I would after my family was safe.

I was doing some work in Grenoble an one of the people who worked there pointed to a great big row of Italian restaurants and told me they were all well known to be mafia fronts to launder money through, but nobody really gave enough of a shit to do anything about it.

The real organised criminals are pure outlaws.. near intouchable in todays society there´s no system that´s gonna work sure if there would be some ghetto gang no problem here chances are slim they will do anything. Bigger organisations? sure they will treat you if needed.

Like ig said, it depends. If it was kiddie porn ring (like KMarion said) then yes, I would tell. If it was just some guys growing pot or something, then no.
