The whole reason for the current salary cap situation in the NHL was players like Kovy who set the precedent for contracts that the NHL as a whole simply cannot afford to dole out. This isn't the MLB of NFL...this is a 3rd or 4th-tier professional sport, depending on where you are in the country (maybe 2nd-tier in some regions, but not many).
I hope no one pays out, and he finds himself in the KHL next year. Not that that will happen, but there are already enough overpaid players in professional sports as it is.
Only positive about the Thrashers situation (IMO) is that all of this could be a sign of major organizational changes...Kansas City Thrashers in the near future? I'd love that, as then the Blue Jackets could be moved to the East and I wouldn't have to see Jared Bolls ugly face as often.
