I saw that thread on walking so i wanted to see, do we have any cross country or track athletes here? Or do we have anyone that does road races? Or anyone that just runs for fun?

I personally am on a cross country and track team. XC = 5K, Track i run the 1600M (1mile) and 3200M (2mile)

I need to start, need to train for a 5k run and i've never done distance before .... any tips for training? I got an indoor rowing machine and am thinking of running for 20/30 minutes in the mornings before i have breakfast.

I do a lot of running, I run for my school's cross country and track team. ( I only do long distance (800,1600m) )

But we do cross country in a park near me

I'm not a serious runner, infact I actually hate running, but I run just about every day to keep fit.

I'm one of the unlucky few who tends to put weight on very easily so I cant just sit on my arse all day like a lot of people, otherwise I would turn into a fat cunt.

I run in a pair of Brooks Beast.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

My 100M sprint is around 14-15 seconds. My friend did it in 11

Where do you live? If weather permitting, get outdoors as much as you can for some long runs. In the beginning, do about 2-3 miles a day. Like 25-35 min depending on your pace. Then, try to increase your mileage and rigor of course that you run on. Example, tackle a few hills, and try to get onto some rough terrain. Also, increase your runs to 60-70 min or 7-8 miles. These will be your longer runs. Running outdoors is the only way you are going to improve, indoor training isn't to great lol. Let me know if you need any more help though.

Tall and wirey (wiry?), I have a very fast metabolic rate - so whatever I eat (alteast for now ), I won't get fat. Although that also means its hard for me to gain muscle mass.

800M: 2.48 (en-route indoor 1600M run)
1600M: 5:58 (indoor)
5K (3.1miles): 21.29

Same, I make myself 5 bread sandwiches throughout the day and don't think I'm putting on weight.
