I´ve ordered that thingy yesterday for a friend of mine, including 8GB´s RAM and three Asus EN8800GTX...

I´m curious how that monster will perform...

I'm also gonna buy a 780i triple sli mobo but my 8800GT doesn't support triple sli. But it doesnt matter since im "only" going to have ordinary Sli.

I've owned SLI, crossfire and 3-way SLI.

3-way SLI... is the best (fastest high-res solution). It is way better than a single card when playing high-resolution modes with AA or Ansio-filtering. Unless you are upgrading to XP 64bit or Vista 64bit. 8GB is a waste. Crap, 4GB is a waste... Crap, 3GB is a waste. You are not going to get any use out anything above 2 GB on vista 32bit with 3-way SLI (due to memory mapping for the hardware). On the 64bit version, drivers are to scarce (at this time, IMO), and nothing really runs (a lot) faster - it's just your not likely to run out of memory if your motherboard allows 8 to 12 GB (or more) installations.

The Windows PAE extensions don't really work either in a 32bit OS environment. You can address above the 4GB limit in Windows, with the 4-bit address extension: BDCedit /set PAE forceEnable : command, modifying the boot to 32+4bit (36 bit) memory addressing. But, unless your motherboard supports moving the memory holes (hardware mapping); you're shit outa luck (about 2GB is all you still see). And, many drivers are not compatible with the PAE memory addressing scheme = instability = a lot of crashing/blue screens.

I can easily overclock my CPU (via the FSB) from 3ghz to 4ghz and overclock the (unlinked) memory by about 5%. The (3) 8800 ultras can be overclocked a lot as well; but the problems is heat - these things run hot - really hot (65C and UP, 90C or more is normal even). Getting a reasonable cooling solution for the 3-way SLI is the real problem (IMO). Because they can be overclocked by a significant amount 20% to 35% safely... which I've done and it screams FPS. But the Heat is ridiculous; I had to take the side-cover off and have a large fan blow on it. Which reduced overall system temp... by some 10-15C.

Right now what I am working on is removing the stock cooling and replacing it; at normal (no overclocked levels) it's moderately adequate. At overclocked rates/temperatures produced - it sucks the big one.

I get doubtful. After going to 1920x1200 on everything I've seriously considering getting another 8800gtx. But then I think, in 6 months or less, another card will come out that's twice as fast as this one.
