Would you mind helping me with a few details? I'm writing a book that involves an escape in a prop aircraft, speciffically this type of plane, an Antonov An-26:

*image behold though not really relevant
https://www.richard-seaman.com/Aircraft/AirShows/Ciaf2006/Highlights/PolishAn26From1oClock.jpg

Now I don't expect anyone to know the ins and outs of this plane exactly, but could anyone help with the following:

1. Procedures (i.e buttons pressed, things checked etc) for take off in a dual prop aircraft.
2. Emergency radio transmissions (specifically military, naval to be exact, if known).
3. Correct procedure for ditching an aircraft in the ocean (if there is one )

Much appreciated .

I think the chances of someone on here knowing how to fly a Russian cargo plane are pretty slim. You might wanna try some kinda airplane buff forum.

Are you nuts! There is no procedure for the An-26, its a flying tractor. The best pilots of that type will tell you that its a different experience every time they roll out. The plane is Russian afterall.

I didn't say specifically a Russian cargo plane, just anyone who knows how to fly a dual engined prop plane.

This IS doing his own research. Asking if people happen to know.

And before you ask, I didn't spend enough time on MS Flight Sim as a kid, so no.

May I suggest going to AVSIM.com and searching for this aircraft.  A lot of people who make planes for flightsims, include manuals and checklists in the download also.

Is it gonna be a spy novel ala Robert Ludlum?

Well for take off, you would start your engines and propellers. Then put your flaps to 5. Then you would contact the radio tower and request permission to taxi. Then once on the runway you would ask for clearance to take off. Once approved you would put max throttle and take off. Once in the air reduce your flaps to 0.

That may not be correct, but that's how I do it on FSX.

I COULD fly a Russian cargo plane, all the BF2 flying and FSX flying helps, and I can sorta read Russia, so yeah...

Bu as far as manuals, seen a couple before for different planes, not sure which ones, not sure where.

The obvious answer would be 'barrel roll' but I'm going to say immelmann.
