Being against anything that changes your state of mind is a somewhat simplistic argument in my opinion...are you against love? Watching your favorite sports team? Playing a video game? All those are considered "crap" that changes your state of mind. I can sit home and relax without having a drug help me out too. I don't drink coffee or energy drinks either, but that is a moot point. Sometimes I smoke herb because I just want to - I don't need an excuse to smoke. When I smoke and then play a video game, I feel like I have more command of the game. It doesn't necessarily mean that I actually do have more command, but that doesn't matter.
There are many things in life that most people partake in that is far worse than marijuana, yet it just doesn't have the social stigma that marijuana does. Really, it (smoking pot) has no negative effects on anyone except perhaps the user him/herself (and that is somewhat inconclusive as far as long term health effects).
I believe I can speak for him and probably all the pot smokers here - We don't need your pity, nor do we want it.
