Almost every country has suffered through them, sparked from assassinations to your sport team winning the big one to pure rage

I remember when the G8 summit was in Okinawa and my platoon was tasked with forward security of the main building (where all officials were meeting) .... I was on one the building providing one of several sniper coverage

on the 2nd day Bill Clinton was exiting out of his vehicle when a riot erupted, we took our positions but as soon as we had assembled they broke apart

Its just amazing how an individual person can be somewhat reasonable, ration-able, smart but a mass of people is chaos

its so unbelieveable to be an eye witness to a riot ---- the only one that I can somewhat justifie is New Orleans during Katrina when they were going for supplies (but the supply hunt lasted for about 5 mins) but as soon as they stopped going for supplies and went for nikes and tvs, then my pity drained away

No one ever said doing the right thing was easy. Giving in to temptation at the expense of others isn't taking advantage of opportunity, it's taking advantage of the unfortunate.

Protests are one thing. Rioting is another. Riots aren't justified unless you're striking out against a police state. Even then, it makes more sense to attack government buildings rather than convenience stores and small businesses (which have nothing to do with your government's decisions). The vast majority of the time, riots make things worse -- as they have for both Pakistan and L.A.

It was like something out of braveheart, kinda surreal actually.

I was in LA during the 2000 Democratic Convention that kind of turned into a riot. I saw cars burned, shit thrown at policemen, etc. I just kind of watched for a while then bounced. I was in Venice, CA about 10 years ago when the riot police came. I think it was at a hip-hop show on the boardwalk.

I have also been in numerous protests where the cops are set up on a side of the street with riot gear and 20 video cameras, along with undercover police (or FBI, not quite sure) walking around taking pictures.
