I laid two claymores - one at the foot of my spot and the other behind me at the top of the ladders.  An enemy sniper managed to defuse both of them but, because a teammate spotted him at the foot, I was waiting for him to appear so I nailed him between the eyes.

How can I do the same thing to avoid being killed?

Grenades is the right answer. 100 points. 101 would have been a brand new washing machine. sorry....

The original question was, "How do you defuse claymores?", which I interpret to mean how can they be picked back up, like engineers pick up AT mines.  The answer there is, "Can't be done".

If we're asking, "How do you get rid of claymores?", the answer is indeed grenades (which the sniper carries) or C4 (which they don't) or driving a humvee or other closed vehicle by them (you'll take damage but won't be killed).

That's my $0.02.

I heard someone say that he trips them using his knife. I'm assuming his hand goes far enough in front of it to trip it but comes back fast enough to not take damage. not sure how you would do this. I don't usually pin myself in like that anyways because of the idiots that I end up TKing.

you will die if you run over a claymore with a humvee.  one of my fav. tricks when people try to squish me with one.  it does not kill the humvee, but it will the driver and 1-2 passangers.

jdoes the wrench really work?  ill have to try that from teh back or something, and just so you know, if they put them around corners, knifing around the corner does work, i do it in the TV station on warlord all the time, then i go and stab the sniper who tried to get me

I'm pretty sure you can't get rid of Claymores by throwing grenades at it.

An engineer can use his wrench to defuse it.  (As long as he's BEHIND the clay that is)
The wrench works on mines as well.

Or

Have a medic close by and defuse it with your body.

before 1.2 you could defuse them with nades but after not anymore

the only way a claymore can be defused is be an engineer on your team or the other team.
for the engi to do this, theyd need to walk up behind the claymore and wrench it.
but yea, good luck on finding an engie willing to risk it.

Go around...WAY around...or wait for some NOOB to defuse it for you the hard way...

Coolest deployment I found when you get tired of being owned by tank whores is to be WAY up high, like rooftops or cranes (NOOB place to be with good snipers around), with a CP below...throw them off as enemies are taking the flag...They always land the right way...BOOM...Makes them feel so NOOBISH...And...You feel SO much better when they return for more...

--->>>TIP<<<---Don't forget your ZIP line either...Once discovered, easily get out of the immediate area while they take potshots at you...

Question:  Can you zip line your way into a loaded troop helo hovering lower than your "NEST" and do the "Me and all of you got a visit with the maker" routine???  Just wondering...Thinking out of the box...ROFL

OUT!

the engineers wrench DOES work, i can confirm this on version 1.22 on SF and regular BF2.  you do have to use it on the back, but its worth it, especially when its facing a hallway or something.   it also takes less than 2 seconds, so its not really a large risk unless you dont see the guy looking at you through his PKM sight.
it also works with AT mines, but C4, no, wrench does nothing, trus me.....i know,
