Here's the problem. It's the Society not the guns. You can't ban guns in the US because it's part of their rights, and you can't ban guns in the US as they're so widespread, it's logistically impossible now. When they made the laws in the 18th Century, they didn't forsee US society going down the drain as it has.

Guns definently make it easier for a person to kill, but wouldn't these kids have been stabbed anyways if it had comes to that? Every country has it's own crime problem, be it stabbings in Australia or shootings in the USA. Removal of such tools would be harder for the attacker to be successful. But what people must understand is that there are already so many guns in the USA, it's smarter to keep people armed. Take for example, your at a shop and the stores getting robbed. One in two people are carrying pistols. Do you think the robber would even try to rob that store knowing there are 50% of people carrying guns? I think not.
