I used that photomatix program to get the detail...but had to do a screenshot because it won't save the image without a watermark over it...have to get the full version someday soon.

I disagree. That is the precise reason that I am not a fan of HDR .. it does not seem natural. For me at least.burnzz wrote:
the first picture is under exposed. it's dark, because the shutter did not stay open long enough to capture all the light.
it only needs to record the shadows.
the second picture is a normal exposure, in this case 1/30th of a second, @ f/11. i locked the ISO @ 200.
the third picture is blown out, or over-exposed - it's needed to record the highlights.
the thre together give you a range of exposures - "high dynamic range" or hdr.
i especially like hdr because it is close to what i see, naturally . . .
burnsy do you ever bracket (AEB) with your camera?

Don't get me wrong.. I think hdr is interesting.. artistic. But not natural.

i dont want burnzz eye
i autobracket everything, even if the other two exposures (usually the +3) don't turn out, because i can use the 'normal' one.Kmar wrote:

for the record, i am blind in my left eye. i have no 'depth perception', i can't see in 3D, those goofy glasses all the chumps wore to Avatar just look gay to me.
HDR really does look like what i see, more than any single exposure. with one eye, i can see shadow and highlight, tone and balance, and now that i'm 20/20 in my "good" eye i see a full palate of color.
my HDR pictures are not 'wild' and i do not use the tone compressor for them - i use a setting called detail enhancer, which uses the under exposed photo for shadow, and the over exposed photo for highlight. from the .tif output, i simply crop, resize, and set the exposure.

Should think about getting a DSLR which takes my old Nikon lenses, next week...

Fuck Israel
looks good, dilbert
funnily enough i think HDR is a bit over-saturated... shall we say
but then again, for some of the shots above that dilbert made... i could see HDR providing a benefit

Snagged my parents' awesome new camera, so here's some more pictures from the airport
The weather in Ventura was amazing a few days ago. It was very windy, so the air was very clear. There were beautiful clouds spread throughout the sky. I wish I had a high quality camera to photograph that beautiful morning. From my Grandparent's house up in the hills you could see the at least 20 miles. The hills, ocean, clouds, etc...oh man, everything was perfect for photography.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
New watch which I got for my 21st.
Not 100% happy with the pictures but not too bad.
