jihad, as far as I know, originally had nothing to do with killing others in the name of allah. Jihad means "struggle" and there have always been two kinds in of Jihad in islam. Internal Jihad, where one finds their faith in god through personal experience and sacrifice and the other, External Jihad, where one spreads the word of the quran, like your average christian missionary. Over the centuries, muslems have interpretted jihad to fit their own agenda, just like christianity has. It could mean sacrifice ones life for the Ruler of your tribe in a time of war. It could mean just opening up madrasas to spread the faith. Wahabism doesnt have the monopoly on crazies. They interpret jihad in a much different way than the quran intended (debatable of course) but, originally, there was no negative connotation with the term.Parker wrote:

poverty. Why are there so many poor people in one of the richest regions in the world. Not just a regular poor, but a historic, fucking apocalyptical kind of poverty. The governments are fucked up. The wealth isnt going around as it should. Youre gonna have all these poor, uneducated jokers who see nothing but shit in their lives. The possibility of paradise and the promise of your loved ones being taken care of after you die might make the proposition of presson a small button for a quick painless death all the more appealing.
