That's a great price for what it's packin'.

Where did you get it from?

That looks very tempting. I'm currently waiting on ordering all my stuff from newegg to build a new desktop, but I'm very tempted to just go for that deal instead since I need a laptop... hmm...

I have been ordering from newegg since 1999, and I have spent over 13,000 on there site.  I was wanting to upgrade my desktop again but i desided for a laptop for now.

my tower specs:

AM2 5200+
Thermaltake typhoon 120mm
Asus M2N SLI Deluxe
Gskill 4GB DDR2 800
2 x 150Gb WD 10k rpm RAID 0
2 x 250Gb WD 7200rpm
2 x XFX 7950 SLI OC editions with heat pipe cooling
620Watt PSU
Windows XP Pro

I was thinking about either the Black edition 5000+ or the 6400+ upgrade along with newer video cards....I guess I will wait for now.  I want to see the X3 & X4 top of the line cpus first

it's not actually "more money," it's just currency conversion.

No it wont im sorry... I cannot run it comfortably on high with my 8800GTX and 4GB RAM desktop PC (C2D E6850) sorry to say so.
What you will be playing it on is low-med on native resolution (maybe cant say for sure) and med on a lower resolution. Look at the replies in this thread and see what FPS people are getting with their high end setups: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=84049

You will barely be able to run medium with that PC,,, propably low if you want a decent framerate...

TBH the 8600 cards are low range GPUs.....   My 7900GTO is better

Yep,, the GTO is a little OC'ed from the factory and it has WAY better cooling (think 8800GTX cooling)..

Look @ toms hardware and see for yourself...

The 7900GS has the same score as the 8600GTS on toms hardware boards... and the GS is the slowest 79xx gpu

Hmm, my desktop  has 2 x 7950 in sli.  The laptop comes with the geforce 8600 with 256 intergraded.   Granted its a laptop and i did spend under $1000.  I guess I cant expect to much.  But I should be able to play Battlefield 2 with everything on high...right?

Maybe

You can expect much more of a laptop GPU,, Alienware now offers SLi 2x8800GTX in their latest laptop

EDIT: oops, sry.. misread you: i guess thats a fair price for the laptop...

XP is the way forward if you ask me........

I also think that the concept of a "gaming laptop" is retarded in itself..
- Overpriced hardware...
- Poor Cooling...
- Screen size often 20"+ on gaming laptops making them too big to carry around...

Laptops are for work, desktops are for gaming...

Personally i'd prefer a HP 2710p which has very good hardware for working, a 15" widescreen making it ultra portable and it works as a tablet PC too...
