They mean different things. Being American is no excuse, that has already been used for too much other crap!
where i live, you get your learners at 16 and you can only drive with an adult, your new driver at 17 where you can drive by your self with certain restrictions, and my full at 19. im only 18 though so 1 more year.
i ahve to w8 2 more years untill i gonna get it, today my 16th bday i may not drive a scooter from my mom so we made a deal, when im 18 she pays all the costs for my license

Wow i guess im the last, i got mine at 21, and i think a quick explanation is in order. If i got licensed i would automatically be put on my fathers insurance policy since i lived with him at the time, and he was not going to be paying the extra insurance for me and i didnt really feel like paying insurance for nothing, nothing meaning i have no car and no one is going to let me use theirs so its just lost money. I got licensed at 21 and got my car a few months later there by saving about 10K. I had to pay for my car in full and my insurance in full. I learned the bus schedule and how to enjoy walking.
I think I was 17 when I got my driver's license.

I don't have a license, but i drive anyway, in a sence i have no license and no sence , i went 120 going up edge lane in a fiesta si, it's a proper little pocket rocket.
I can't be bothered to get lessons (was 16 in march) and i think i have no need for a car and of course the main reason is that i have no money and insurance would be a bitch, might get a motorbike though when i'm old enough to get a proper one instead of the crappy ones that are really no better than scooters that your allowed at 16. I prefer motorbikes to cars mostly as they're alot cheaper.

Could've gotten mine with 17 - I figured I didn't deserve it till I was 18. I don't think you should get it before then. 16 seems like a very young age to start driving responsibly.

I was 14 when I got my driver's license. Hooray for a Hardship License and that was 11 years ago.

Can't remember when I got my learners and started the whole process, (Learners -> Restricted -> Full) but according to my drivers licence I got it issued on the ninth of February 2006, I would have been 18.

Heh. I got mine at 21 also. For the love of god, get your license before you go away to college. I stayed at school during the summer break to work every year, so with no car already it became difficult to get it.A12345 wrote:

In the mean time, I learned to love my bike.
Well gotta take segment two crap in order to get my license before my 18th birthday(novomber) so im taking it next week, then I can get mine. Personally I dont want one, sure my mom will pay insurance and is giving me the old car(perfect running shape, 6 years old 107kmiles ) gas is a pain, currentylu its around $2.81 a gallon, few weeks ago it was $3.30. That and driving sucks.
