I had the same problem when my clan moved to 2142. Stay your course, eventually they will see the game for what it is and come back to BF2. Then you'll have the wonderful opportunity to say I TOLD U SO!!!!!!!

If you have over a GB of RAM, yes. It's a great game. New vehicles, weapons, a lot of unlocks, and a rank every round, not to mention field upgrades.

If your friends do not play BF2 anymore ( 2142 instead ) you'd better buy it . My friends , on other hand , do not play BF2142 so I left it less then in 2 months after I bought it .

Honestly I bought BF2142 thinking that there's some development in the game but sadly comprehended that they only put up with one (1) new game mode.

There's nothing new in it, just imaginary opponents fighting with imaginary weapons....
The battlewalkers and hovering vehicles are all borrowed from past games from the late ninety's and so on.
Personally I've been playing BF2 for almost 2 years now (as I see you too) and seriously wondering if I should buy "BF3" <- if it ever comes...
Maybe a step back to COD isn't very far on my mind, or ARMA and maybe soon to be Operation Flashpoint 2  "official".
As on BF 2 it kicks ass even after hundreds and hundreds playhours I have gonna play it until something "really" better will show up!

well, are they ginternet friends or RL friends? If there from the webz, boycott. if there from the 'real life' then don't boycott them, just don't play there shitty game. They will be back soon.

My clan moved to bf2142 when it came out included me, I was the first to come back after about 100hours on it. I didn't like it from the beginning but I played it because my friends did.
After while I said fuck it and came back to BF2, soon after my clanmates did the same some still play on the occasion but we are back to the good old bf2.
Like the others said, if you don't like futuristic shit like halo, then don't even bother buying it.

Play the demo first, I played Bf2 for my 300+ hours and had fun, moved onto 2142 day it came out and cant go back, way to much bullshit going on, played a few rounds recently an went straight back into 2142. BF2 is dead and way to much "your hacking'  "you a blah blah blah" happening, no fun to play with suchs asses, havent seen nearlyas much in 2142 in my experiences.

come on BF2 fanboys, flame me.

I have played the demo and it blows chunks in my opinion.
I play sf more than anything now so the intensity it's still there and i stil got some medals to get.

I bought 2142 about a month ago during the Great Stats Outage to fulfill my addiction to watching meaningless stats accumulate in an online database. I played all of one game and immediately went back to BF2. I therefore recommend that you stay away from BF 2142. Why?

1. The ranks are totally screwed up in BF 2142.
2. The game somehow looks uglier than BF 2 despite being newer in the same way that the BF 1942 maps were so much "prettier" than the ones in BF Vietnam.
3. Everything in BF 2142 is just made up for that particular game and there's no background or history to make all those doo-hickeys relevant or interesting. I get scared when an M1 Abrams rolls abound the corner in BF 2. But when I see one of those giant "walky-shooty" things in BF 2142 I just think "WTF? What an obvious Star Wars rip-off. I s..." Then of course the walky-shooty dude guns me down...
4. There are a lot of cool awards and stuff in BF 2142, but the problem is you'll win so many of them so easily that they will soon cease to have any appeal.
5. By NOT buying the game you'll be about $30 ahead of your friends. And as has already been mentioned, who needs friends anyway now that we have teh intranetZ?
