Either Goldeneye for the N64 or Duck Hunt for the NES (assuming it counts as an FPS ).

NOTE: Duck Hunt was my siblings', 'cause they're from the 70s and 80s.

SAme.. though the first one I LIKED was doom. Wolfenstein was just too ugly. Had to upgrade to a 386SX 25 Mhz to play doom though.

speaking on NES...anyone remember a game called Rescue: the embassy mission?
i may have to change my answer...as the end of that game was you running through the hall with a "gun" that looked more like a broomstick

It's only ten years ago that GoldenEye was released. Not to mention I only got the N64 two years after it's release, so....I started gaming at 11 years old.

Or, and has anyone heard about a game called RogueX? It was a REALLY old game, with text graphics.  I have been looking for this (as a way to relive my childhood, I suppose) for quite a while now. It was a D&D style game, with each letter representing a kind of monster.  If anyone knows what I am talking about PM me.

"Rogue is considered to be the first ever graphical adventure and roleplaying game. The game was first developed in 1980, mostly for college students who played through terminals and hooked up through BBSes.
Many different versions of Rogue exist, for many different types of computers, including, PC(Windows and DOS), Macintosh, Commodore 64, Apple II, and Tandy. Rogue was even packaged along with Version 4.2 of BSD UNIX in the early 1980s. Even some browser-based versions of Rogue exist on the Internet.

Rogue is primitive, in the sense that the 'graphics' were nothing more than ASCII characters representing the player, and various monsters in the Dungeons of Doom. Many players and critics of Rogue have called it 'unbeatable,' as no two games are different. The program itself builds the dungeon, so the game maps are different each time the game is loaded.
