Still sounds fubar for an aircarrier tbh. even USS i-has-jets would've been better.KnowMeByTrailOfDead wrote:

It is tradition to name navel vessels after Cities, states and presidents. I can't immagine the USS Ohio spreading fear over the opposition.FarBeyondReality wrote:

Perhaps you don't realize that the USS Ohio carried enough weaponry to effectively wipe out most countries...we have now downsized its payload to 154 cruise missiles...

Perhaps you don't realize that the genetic material contained in the groins of over 7000 lonely sailors is enough to effectively dilute your Aussie gene pool for at least 10 years with illegitimate American children.RAIMIUS wrote:

20 years from now your economy will be ruined by the massive cost of welfare.

The Saratoga and the Forrestal (aka the Forest Fire) are the ones in RI. The Saratoga is going to become a museum ship while the Forrestal is i believe going to be target practice for a submarine (sink ex).Stubbee wrote:
There several carriers in mothballs scheduled for scuttling. At least the navy lists them as available for scuttling. 3 moored at bremerton and 2 moored at Rhode Island. Plus JFK is now decomm'ed. Which leaves the Kitty Hawk as the last US non-nuke carrier in operation.TheAussieReaper wrote:
Yeah, I can't see why they couldn't just donate it to the Australian Navy. Intead it will most likely be sold for scrap metal.

The Forrestal's being turned into an artificial reef.

Why would the carrier dock in Australia?
shame they couldn't save both ships. It cost us over $10 million to save the Saratoga (i work for the foundation that saved it). there was a group trying to save the Forrestal though i think their funding fell through
I cant wait till the riots break out in Sydney with the lebs, soldiers may be trained, but Lebs can have full reinforcements and more within a minute of calling on a mobile phone.
I was aware of that, just pointing out that the Name does not fit his stardards of "cool".RAIMIUS wrote:

It really is spectacular seeing a super carrier in person. What a display of military might.
Also, the fact that 7000 odd cashed up sailors are going to be off the ship for the first time in, apparently, 6 months, well it aint half bad for the economy.

The Kitty Hawk!!!! I thought it was decomissioned eons ago. Man it must be a rust-bucket by now. When I was a Jar-head, I missed the opportunity to go to Australia....bummer. I can go now but not the same...no longer I can be drunk and vulgar
A couple of aircraft carriers left Perth Harbour about a month ago..
I've been on the Enterprise and I think the Kitty Hawk, and a few destroyers. Damn, they were awsome. Good ol' Perth.
