I got some sucky news for you guys.
There are 2 types of servers in Crysis. DX9 Multiplayer, and DX10 Multiplayer. Now, if you wanna play with or against your friend, he will have to switch his card to DX9 mode so he can play with you. (assuming you have a DX9 card).
Also, destructible environments are only for DX10. You will not be able to shoot down trees and break apart buildings unless you have a DX10 card. I not sure if this will get fixed, but all in all, that's quite disappointing for us DX9 players.

This is the only game that makes me think to get a new PC rather than a PS3. If I only know which one to go with! FFS

Uhmm, don't talk to me about handling processing, if a game is well optimized then yes it can handle anything. I'd like to further point out to your benefit that the video cards render the image, the CPU is processing the damage to the tree and making it fall over.Hurricane wrote:

Yes, considering that more and more people are using dual core machines or getting stronger procs in general, yes it's possible.

A good gaming console(lack of games atm, most of the games are coming between sept-dec, a good blu-ray player. Enough? I think only singleplayer can handle destructible environments on DX9. If you go onto multiplayer for DX9, you can't have destructible environments.
Which doesn't make sense. Why can you destroy things on singleplayer, but not on multiplayer? It has the ability to do it on signleplayer, so it should be able to on multiplayer. But then that brings me back to the question of why they have 2 different types of servers, dx9 and dx10.

Uhmm, some forum noob made that comment and he didn't even back it up. I'm calling a possibility, but it sounds unfounded. DX9 and DX10 are merely graphical enhancers at this point, you should be able to do both, but not get so much of a thrill with DX9 as in DX10.

Supposedly I can run the game on medium high with about 50 fps. Hope that holds true.

No, you'll be able to play with or against your friend. There are two ways of making this possible. Either you upgrade your graphics card and operating system, or you tell your friend to put their game into DX9 mode. Those with DX10 have the advantage as they can play on both DX10 and DX9 servers where as those still using DX9 are restricted to playing only on DX9 servers.

Looks like they went back to the original crosshair, but kept the strength/speed/armor symbols the same.
It's looking great though. Only a few minor changes I can see need to be fixed, and then the beta should be out soon. Along with the SP and MP demos.
