The SVD automatically has low accuracy. The chance of getting a headshot even when aiming at a perfectly still target you have a chance of missing. I just dont miss in the first place. What the hell are you talking about? Have you ever learnt how to use an SVD? It's a headshot heaven gun!!! I would say you can get at least 3-4 headshots a clip (excluding body shot kills) if you are trying hard which is pretty good + it's helpful when you miss your not having to reload the bloody thing. I use it and I can get headshots, you obviously play with too many noobs.

And you've just owned yourself because if you cant hit a perfectly still target then your aiming wrong: you always aim slightly left. Its not like the L96, M24, Type 88 or M95.
Im guessing you dont realise it has a deviation of 5x higher than bolt actions, added to the fact that the scope is lesser. My statement is true. The simple fact is even aiming perfectly at a target you have a chance of missing. Its maths. It isnt hard.

As to your first part. I get 4-5 headshots a clip with a bolt. So... blatantly better.

"helpful when you miss your not having to reload" my original point. Its for people that cant one shot one kill. Or rarely very amazing snipers use it. I have yet to see one in game.

And with you 25 hours of using the sniper you must know everything about it. You claim that you don't miss and get 4 headshots a clip, yet your accuracy is 43%, lower than mine. That seems odd considering that I use the SVD 85% of the time, have over 100 more hours with the rifle, and my accuracy is still better. I'll just disregard anything you say about anything and declare Drunk Musketeer the winner here. And if none of you have seen any of the SVD "pros" around you need to get out and play. There are many of them, and their stats and ranks decieve you.

lol its called not taking the game seriously. I mainly play none ranked. Aswell as the fact that when we play ranked we often fuck around, like knifing our whole team, lol. I play in 3 different leagues and have yet to see a single player from any of the clans choose to play SVD when commanding.

I often bunny hop around and go for the unscoped shots on my clan mates. Obviously lowing my accuracy. And as any player should know stats mean little to nothing! For example my KDR with sniper seems low, despite the fact that in the last 20 or so rounds my average would be closer 4 if not 5.

Which one? But anyway, not hard: http://bf2s.com/player/65281657/history/Time/

But even if I were playing the account it still wouldn't be hard ROFL

That's pretty much all I'm playing these days and still, very thin on the ground. But maybe it's a geographical thing.

Agreed. Killing the enemy is all that's fundamentally at issue. Dead is dead. Course it IS better for a couple of reasons if the player can get headshots but it's not the end of the world if you're having trouble because of lag or skill level, or whatever, so you need to triple-tap.

TrueArchon wrote:

I'm a bodyshot specialist, I don't really 'aim' for headshots as a goal.

But that's only for someone like you, and experience sure shows you're the exception.

Even with a player of modest ability like myself it's rare for me to not be top sniper on an urban map using the M24 because there simply aren't many players skilled in using the SVD. Get anyone younger with decent reflexes on USMC/SAS and any SVD hopeful would have a rough time of it, unless the M24 user is a bit thick.

But that's only me of course.
Missing 4 shots in every 10 isn't exactly "rarely"

Yeah, one has to guess if it's a first account if you don't know for sure, or try to judge other factors (like always playing with clanmates) that might artificially ('artificially'?) plump up some of the numbers. IO servers sure make a difference now too with the lower-threat environment.

Achem, not quite: deviation, dust hits, disappearing bullets, hitbox alignment.

Those last 20 rounds must have been unranked. All of them. Because a simple check of your account on BF2player.com learns that you are just falling short of a 1.5 KDR atm (for 6 months now). Thats Ranked ofcourse, because your 5.0 KDR was on a Unranked server ... or so says you in any case

Hmm... Could be a geographical thing, true.

There were a number of them playing on the DoM server a while back, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.  Lately, I've been playing on Teabaggers, but most of the SVD guys there aren't really that good.  A couple good snipers, don't get me wrong, but most of those snipers use the bolt actions.  Niclangdon is good with the SVD.  I've been witness to that.

Yeah, the times that I've used a triple tap was often done while taking pot-shots at enemies in extreme firefights with teammates.  Sometimes, it's when I've beaded down on an enemy sniper for a head-shot, and by some manner or another, missed the head-shot, and instead got a body shot.  I'll usually then follow up with two quick body shots to avoid a more accurate, bolt-action head-shot in retaliation.

Really?  I goal for head-shots probably 9 out of 10.

Sometimes I go for body, but that's often a result of too many friendlies in the area.  Or the opposite, too many enemies.  I'll also go for kinda head/body shots with the SVD at longer distances, because the "reticule" is...  What's the best word I can use?  Odd?  Maybe, not the best tool for the job?

Anyways, shot my whole point with ya out the window with the sniper head-shot vs. body shots argument.  Thanks Todd!

Hehehe.

I would expect any commander to go sniper in a TWL match or infact any clan match. Nothing better than a sniper defending your main base on mash or the square on kark.

I don't care what anybody says using the SVD in CQC is way more fun then laying behind a rock and just pickin people off. (Before you run off and check, yes my sniper stats are low and sucky but I still have fun.)

Yup, one of my main roles, along with spotting.  When your squad is pinned down (Lake and Fountain flags), the squad sniper becomes the most important squad mate.

About a month ago, I got Admin banned from that server for killing the admin too many times as sniper.  Some people just can't accept that SVD snipers often get the most kill counts on Ghost Town.

Only map i can think of where you can long range snipe with the SVD is Clean sweep. Now the type 88 on the other hand.....

500m kills are possible with the type 88 if the situation is right, especially if you know enemy movement/spots. I admit ive only had a few of them but ive had many 300-400m kills with the type 88.

So, no i don't use the SVD for long range, i use the type 88 for long range though
