Muslims make up 0.02% of the US population.  Those idiots that make up the 13% are in a very very very very small minority.  You will always have a small extremist minority.

All your law enforcement/intelligence people have to do is keep an eye on them.

On topic: Great we gotta watch out for homegrown now even more, Killing civilians is never an option, It's not right nor moral, Why do you think Iraq is going so bad? Religion is not the problem it's people's own egotistical desire to be better then everyone else, Religion only works when it accepts other peoples belief's, Not when it forces them to give them up or die, The most accepting religions are, Buddhists, Jews, and Christians(Yes i said christians i dont mean those evangelical types i mean the down to earth people who let people believe what they want to believe, And there are plenty you can find if you look hard enough)

No matter what people will always fight, If we believe in 2 different things we will fight, If we believe in the same thing we will find a reason to fight, Conflict is why humans exist, The want for excitement brings Chaos, The need for peace brings Order, Personally i think one day the world will be under one religion and i think it will suck for the hseer lack of diversity which will lead to the extinction of the human race.

Middle ages was pure chaos. People believed in anything the priest said, and if you didn't follow their belief you would be in bad trouble. Death was the other way.

Christian changed after middle age, I havn't heard of anyone going "In the name of jesus I will kill you" or so.
If religion wasn't the problem, then why do most people bring up allah? or their own god

A very small number. As said, an equal number could be found within any religion, race or status imagined. This has been blown out of proportion, especially by headlines that proclaim the thirteen percent as the news, not the eighty-seven percent. Perhaps the most interesting statistic of this poll is that similar percentages exist between Christians and Muslims who identify themselves as members of their religion before country. Certainly, it eliminates the view that Muslim Americans are alone in their loyalty to their religion first, when Christians are as well.

Additionally, the poll speaks of "defending Islam". This does not mention attacking American soldiers, Israeli civilians, or other targets in the Middle East. It speaks of their religion and defending it. I'm sure many religions would have similar percentages when asked about defending their religion. It also remarks on how often this is justifiable, with most who agree responding with "rarely". Hardly a case for concern, when one realizes that there may be rare occasions of justification for some. Perhaps similar to those who express disregard for the lives of innocent Iraqis murdered in rare cases by American soldiers, or when Palestinians are killed by Israelis- These cases always have those indifferent or even supportive of such actions, but I could call any atrocity forward and have some support it. These thirteen percent who expressed a positive response to this poll are no different than any other American group. They did not express any support for murder, or 9/11, or any such event that is clearly of evil intent, but in defence of their religion, in rare occasions. I do not necessarily find agreement with this thirteen percent, but we have to remember that it is not as severe as the poll titles indicate, nor is it any different than any other American group.

The headlines themselves are misleading. Instead of "Some American Muslims approve of suicide bombings", or the even more politically slanted "470,000 Muslims that live in American think killing civilians is Okay", perhaps the headline should be "Vast majority of American Muslims believe all suicide bombings are wrong". We need to learn to read the statistics instead of making vast generalizations.

I'd say the number of victims involved makes all the difference.

If you're truly trying to equate suicide bombing with torture of a suspected terrorist, then I really don't know what else to say.  I'm not going to be stereotypical and call you a terrorist-sympathizer, but I suppose calling you vastly illogical would be appropriate.

I don't think anyone really claims torture is moral.

However, someone blowing up a bunch of civilians for the sake of an extremist agenda is far worse than someone who tortures someone else in order to extract information that saves many lives.

I'm not naive enough to believe that everyone we've tortured has been an actual terrorist or that everytime we do it is for the right reasons, but there are plenty of situations out there that could make torture a necessary means of fighting the insurgency.

Maybe it's not moral, but it is occasionally necessary.
