Lol! Since when did you choose which option is right? Everyone of them is correct, it is just most people (including myself) choose option B. It's numbers, there are multiple ways of saying it! Moron.
Actually, it is the correct one. The date '1970' isnt pronounced ninteen hundred and 70, and its not pronounced 1 thousand, 9 hundred and 70 is it?

No. Its pronounced ninteen seventy. And if you pronounce it any other way you really are a retard.

So yes, 21-42 IS the correct way. Actually. Idiot.
But the year 2007 isn't pronounced 'twenty seven' it's pronounced 'two thousand and seven'.

And, fyi, people used to say 19-hundred-and...

Actually.

Idiot.

Me too, since option three is the way we call actual years in German. In our language the "xx hundred" style is only popular for the periods 100 to 999 and 1100 to 1999 and the xx - yy style doesn't exist at all.

So if a German says 21 - 42, he obviously played to much army games.

2007 isnt pronounced 27 because, obviously when its close to the beginning of a new millenium its easier to just say 2000 + 7. However as soon as its the year 2100 i'm fairly sure that'll be pronounced 'twenty one hundred', and so on until the 2 zero's at the end get replaced with something else. Then it'll be 2110. And how are you planning on pronouncing that? 2 thousand one hundred and ten? two one one zero? No. It'll be 21-10, because thats how dates have always been pronounced.

Then how do you pronounce 2107?  Twenty one - 0 Seven?  Then why not call 2007 Twenty - 0 Seven.

Well.. because you just don't. I'm tired. Can't try and think of a proper reply just now. But thats pretty much it. You just don't. That would be silly.

No, the point is, that wouldn't be silly. It used to be common parlance to say things like "Ninteen Hundred and Thirty Two". Now it's "Nineteen Thirty Two". Language changes. No one way to pronounce anything is anymore 'right' or 'wrong' in any kind of absolute sense. There is only 'how we currently pronounce it'.

Well then. And 21-42 is 'how we currently pronounce it', and so it is the correct way of saying it.

How I see it is if the last two digits of the year is less than 10 (e.g. 2109), then you would say "oh [number]" so for example 2109 == twenty-one oh-nine. If you don't say the "oh" then it would sound like the year 219.

But if the last two digits are 10 or higher then just say that number (2142 == "twenty-one forty-two").

OK, you can say there are some special occasions like millennia and [last two digits] < 10 - you would say two-thousand and seven.

That's how I would go about pronouncing years.

No, it is the 'currently accepted pronounciation'. As I said before there is no such thing as 'the correct way of saying it'.
