My fastest DL peak has been just under 2000KB/s (yeah, KiloBYTES). It was when I downloaded the BF2Combat mod (fucking nice servers they have). I spent most of that download at 1,500KB/s (AKA 1.5MBps). I fucking love Verizon's internets service. Their cell phone service, not so much.
Do you use the new fiber optics stuff?? They're putting it into my neighborhood right now!  I have comcast, which  isn't slow.. but its not terribly fast either
Yeah, FiOS=Fiber Optic Service.

Elviscerator, where do you live? That's some insane speed for Comcrap.

It's definitely worth it. The only bad part is the kinda long installation, but after that you'll be leet.

I think i have a problem.  My torrents usually download at less than 10KB/s.  When I download regular files from the internet I download at around 400KB/s, 600KB/s if im lucky.  Why is there such a huge difference in my torrent downloads, and how can I speed them up.  BTW the one i am downloading now is going at 2KB/s and i am there are like 800 seeders and 900 leechers.  HELP!

A average at about 200kb/s which isn't too good, but then again  I'm sure I always get the slowest servers

My record is 7000kb/s which felt.....so good! Hehe.

I've got 16meg but getting 24 next month!

2.3Mb/s max. Generally 1.3Mb/s.

It's amazing downloading things at this speed.

thanks for the advice, but I am semi-retarded when it comes to routers/networking, and am not sure how to do this.

I have something around 15mbit, using IDM I can get 1MB a sec from most servers that are up to the task (it bypasses the usual limits). The maximum Ive ever done is 1.3 MB/sec through an FTP, downloading about 30 parts of a split archive at once

Good enough, wont expect any more until the UK upgrades itself to fibre optic all over.

depends where you download, torrents usually go slower than downloading something from internet.

160k is do-able, but pretty slow compared to what you can get. 160k is a bit more than a 1Mbit connection, but a 10Mbit connection can get speeds like 1.2MB/s in optimal situations. So it's oké for normal surfing behavior and most games, but an upgrade wouldn't hurt.

(btw I have only 200k usually, but then again, I only have to pay 10€/month).

Thanks, I've been wanting to know what 10MBit connections can do. I might upgrade,

100 gig limit/month and 'up to 10 Mbit'
seems oke, don't know the average prices in canada though, there are countries in which you can get faster for 50$ a month, but it seems a reasonable offer. (also depending on how much you pay now)

And don't forget that if it says bit, you have to divide by 8 to get byte, so 8 Megabit = 1Megabyte.
