Some of you keep saying the US is wrong and basically stupid for watching mosques..... well... what have we here?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070513/ap_ … eu_mosques

Wonder if it will actually happen.

Erm. It's common sense to monitor them??? A damn sight more effective than travelling thousands of miles to some dusty hellhole to blow up radicals and their innocent neighbours.

Isn't it a violation of privacy?

Not that I am saying it is, just echoing some forum members views.

They're public meeting places. If someone wants to address the public then I see little problem with checking out their rantings.

They're public meeting places.
What is the appropriate means of monitoring then?

Common sense when the EU does it... When Bush does it, and goes the full 10 yards (US football -a real man's sport) you bitch....

lol exactly!!

The EU can do no wrong. . . But if the USA were to adopt a monitoring policy. . . HOLY SHIT better break out the liberal attack dogs!!

Its european hypocrisy at its finest. . . . .

Instead of monitoring them. . . ARREST THE MUTHER FUCKERS!! They are obviously up to no good! Send in an FBI guy with a bug on him, and catch some Sheik talking about blowing shit up. . . .It shouldnt be that hard to do! in Europe especially!!

Has to be done to move with the times and try and keep one step ahead of the game. Go back a few years when the flavour of "terrorists" was the IRA and I'm sure they had tabs on a lot of those guys and places they hung out.

I hardly think monitoring a public meeting place and setting that up legally is comparable to setting up wiretaps and attempting to water down personal privacy rights when you purport to stand for 'Liberty'.

I think you'll find Gaelic Football is far tougher than American Football btw. It's essentially fighting with a ball thrown in for good measure. And no silly helmets and padding.

If he said, " We are watching mosques"

Rather than,"Im in your phone lines, listening to calls. Trust me."

Maybe make a difference.

The plan is to look at Muslim religious leaders who raise the the threat of extremism, who has argued against that?

I've noticed usmarine, fadedsteve and co. have attempted to round on cameronpoe on this issue but I have to say, having read many of cameronpoe's posts on similar issues, he has always advocated the use of intelligent monitoring of terrorism instead of all out war and flagrant, aggressive legislation that serves only to isolate sections of the community. I don't see how you can say he is being hypocritical.

I concur with this idea.

Hunter/Jumper - have you just chosen to ignore the COUNTLESS TIMES I have repeated that terrorism must be fought through VIGILANCE and DOMESTIC security measures and not by the counter-productive methods currently being employed? Your posts are so full of holes it's not funny.

Post #8. Date: 23-Apr-07. Plenty of other examples out there too.

It's quite hilarious/worrying that my posts generate so much interest in you and how you choose to overlook my actual views in favour of views you assume I hold in your mind.

I've been in plenty. They're like a sort of club. Muslims bring their shopping and everything in there. Here's a pic I took inside the Blue Mosque:
