For the Master Sargeant rank I heard you need the basic combat badges plus knife and pistol badges but I saw a user with no pistol or knife badge and he got promoted to Msgt. rank. How is that possible or did ea remove those requirements?

dude, no. master sgt. is just 20k. FIRST SGT. is 20k and all the basic shit.

First Sergeant is the rank that requires the badges. Master Sergeant only requires 20,000 points.
