Wtf? lag?

So I get a new computer, its "supposed" to be badass. I load BF2 onto it and it literally took 5 minutes to load the freaking map and to get me into the server....

My Specs

AMD +4400 Duel Core processor

Nvidia 7600 GS 512MB PCI-E

1 Gig of Ram

Windows Vista (<~~~ is what I think the problem is)

My graphics are all set to medium with my view distance scale on 100%... any help? I don't like missing 1/4 of the round because my computer can't load the damn map....

My other computer loads BF2 about 10x as fast for some reason.

Other comps specs

Pentium C2D +3800

Nvidia 6600 512MB PCI-E

1 Gig of ram

Windows XP

All of those graphics are on medium as well..... wtf? why isn't it loading any faster on the BETTER COMPUTER???

Harddrive/RAM specs?

And Vista sucks so... (It takes about a gig of RAM just to run.)

ram prolly, although im not an expert thats prolly it. and i think vista needs a load of ram to run smooth or summat.

I don't have enough money to really buy another gig of ram atm.... but yeah, only 180Gig hard drive on my better comp, just really doesn't make sense to me at all, I hate how the people I bought from didn't give me a choice on what OS I wanted... otherwise I would have gotten XP.... F vista in the A, also, my comp with the 7600 GS in it has two of them, but for some retarded reason I have no option to activate SLI on it.... and it's really pissing me off, so if any of you have a way to fix that too, I would be highly greatful

because vista makes it no longer the better computer...
believe me, i played bf2 on my gaminglaptop xps M1710 dual 2.0GHz 1 gig RAM and a GeForce go 7900GTX 512 Mb.
with xp, it went great even on (almost)highest settings
with vista, it takes a 7x longer loading time...

vista is just an extremely heavy OS
WAY too heavy imo

get back to xp if you want to get the best performance out of your hardware is my advice here...
