If anyone here has the most time can some one make me a step - by - step manual. For these weird Key Packets. I mean I have all the links but every time there is an error while doing the manual update(s) ... and I really would like someone here to help me ... Because I have a small game with may friends we have saved lots of money together to buy a ranked server for a day. And I would love to play with them. So if any one wants to help and do a step - by step manual how to fix this problem. Screen shots if possible.

Helper will be rewarded.

Code:

1. Manually update your punkbuster using pbsetup.exe (just to be safe)

2. Download pbsvc.exe from PB.

3. Run it, select the uninstall option.

4. Run it again, select the install option.

5. Reboot if you want, just in case. I didn't and it worked fine for me.

I'm guessing you know this and your problem is with the manual updater

well this is how it worked for me

(make sure the process "pbsetup.exe" is allowed by your firewall or allow it when you get the pop-up during these steps)

1. click icon it loads up and updates itself

2. then u have a to click add game and scroll down to BF2142 and click add

3. the path set will be the default so if you put it their just hit ok if not find your game

4. then it should be in the list and you highlight it and click update and a box will pop up with 2 bars and update

then the uninstall and reinstall bit is easy too

(make sure the process "pbscv.exe" is allowed by your firewall or allow it when you get the pop-up during these steps)

1. click the .exe and select the uninstall option and finish

2. that then restart same .exe and tick install option

I had this problem a few times.
What I did was...
1. Download PBsetup
2. Manually update Punkbuster with PBsetup by first adding BF2142 from the PB setup options and then checking for updates.
3. Made sure Pnkbstr A and B was running in the background (check system processes to see it is running. It should start up when Windows first logs in).
4. Don’t close down PB A & B leave it running.
Make sure all firewalls are letting PB A&B go through the firewall (don’t forget about Windows firewall as well)
That pretty much fixed the problem for me.

When I do this weird thing it says "Pnkbstr is outdated". like what the f***. And I have mozilla and when I manually update it says i should click "Save As ' on my broswer but I don't know because it then says "Save Link As" I need some damn assitance... I'm not that good with technology.

Yeah I downloaded it and clicked BF2142 and the Game Path came and the I clicked okay, then I clicked check for updates, after that it said all updates have been apllied.

yeh hes right you need special forces mate then you will get the 2nd set of guns, after playing it you automatically get 3 unlocks aswell

Uninstall and reinstall with PBsetup.
Turn on your firewall.
Make sure your firewall accepts both programs, Pnkbstr.A + Pnkbstr.B.

multible treads about this already.. if you have mcafee you have to manually allow acces for pnkbstrA.exe and pnkbstrB.exe in your firewall settings...

Well okay I did. But I only found Pnkbstr.A and not .B .

1st. I'm using Mc Afee

2nd. "if you have mcafee you have to manually allow acces for pnkbstrA.exe and pnkbstrB.exe in your firewall settings..." I don't know where and how. I can't find these two things.

Anyho'

Step 1:
Right click the McAfee Security Center Icon in your tray apps (the one next to the clock in bottom right corner)

Step 2:
Go to the tab saying "Personal Firewall"

Step 3:
Click Internet applications

Step 4:
Find PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe

Step 5:
Right click and select "Allow Full Acces" on each

Step 6:
Make sure that their status changes from "Blocked" (red text) to "Allow Full Acces" (green text)

Step 7:
Join your favorite BF server
