Rockets shooting out of the ground? doubt that.  In over 700hours of play i can count the amount of "real" cheaters ive seen playing the game on both my hands. well you cant deny that alot of people cheat. At the very least admit that bf2 breeds a culture of exploitation and general asshatery. If so many people come up with the most ingenious ways to glitch or exploit the game as they have since day 1, what makes you think that alot of people wouldn't take up cheating as well. They piss all over the game anyway with statpadding, wall glitching, server side point hacking, macrowhoring, the list goes on.

I havent really seen many people hacking. I get accused of hacking sometimes, if Im having a really good round. Im not even good, but sometimes I get an amazing round, with lucky shot after lucky shot. It actually makes me happy though, Im doing so good they think Im hacking. Just stop complaining.

I dont deny there are cheaters. I'm just tired of hearing everyone say oh so and so hacks. Bring proof or keep it down is what i think. But i think probably 10% of bf2 players hack MAYBE at most.

well im going to tell you how it is my good friend.

i have played this game from the day it came out and from the day i retired from it almost a year ago..

there are only 2 things you need to do when you feel that there are hackers running around karland or any map

1) join another server
2) quit playing this game and do something else.


there are more cheaters than people realize, that is a reality that very few people realize, and if they think otherwise, they are in for a big noob suprise.

there will be cheaters, haxors, and punks, its like cutting up a starfish only to have 5 more appear in front of you in a matter or days.

i have seen everything in this game, every good part and every crappy part where 15 year old morons are running around with aimbot/ MSX hacks out there.

do the right thing and just walk away, i did.  i dont have the same respect, interest in this game that i once had when i went to a local store to buy it.

Alarming? Isn't it a good thing?

1) I havent played karkand since May 06 - thats almost 1 year ago. I often play IO on the 24/7 Surge/MD server and thats great fun. Nothing suspicious yet....
In fact, I dont play karkand, sharqi, wake, kubra, and rarely warlord, GT and jalalabad.
2) Skill level too low? I just rocked 3 rounds of Great Wall, normal mode (not IO) as assault on PLA. 35/4 all flag hopping in a full 40man server. Finished a Songhua round with 40points more than the next person in a full 50man server. Hell, I even got a nice compliment for my F15 flying on Taraba
3) Ignorant? No, I just know when to suspect people (see below)
4) 64player servers? I play a lot on TV2 actually - dont see many there.
5) As before, probably


I played SOF2 (Soldier of Fortune 2) for nearly 2 years. V1.00. It came without ANY form of anti-cheat software (not even PB) and the developers even left in console commanders for a partial wallhack, thirdperson views, changing of the FOV distance, fullbright, lightmap (i.e. all textures are white). As a clan, we were one of about 3 that were clean. We even developed our own AC software that people had to run before joining the clan - although they didnt actually know it was AC
And funnily enough, we beat a LOT more clans than we lost to thanks to teamwork and being able to learn and develop skill - not something thats designed to hit X number of times and miss Y times therefore making you only good to the limit of the bot. Ive got screens somewhere of 105/6 and 80/10 KD ratios in that game
If you continue to practise and get better, you can beat any hacker except for the ones that instantly put 5 shots into your head at any range. Thats what we did.

That game had aimbots, wallhacks, ballhacks, radar hacks, no recoil hacks, third person crosshairs (third view didnt have a crosshair) weapon hacks (disabled weapons become available to the user, i.e. RPG's in a solely FPS) and even invisibility was rumoured but I never saw it myself (excuse the pun ).

Believe me, I can detect a hack from a mile away. And in my BF2 experience, away from city maps, I have seen virtually no hacks or suspicious players. Hacks dont help you fly, avoid missiles, shoot a tank cannon or use mobile AA. Maybe they can help with TV's, but Im not worried about the odd few deaths.
Granted I cant see what jet pilots can see, i.e. player name tags like you see in videos. But pilots dont do anything that I wouldnt do i.e. bomb neutral flags, strafe the hangars etc.


At the end of the day, EVERY GAME will have hackers of some form. And the more lucky shots, "lucky spots"/tactical thinking that people do, the more people come to think that the game is "flooding with hackers". Yes, Ive seen all these videos on youtube etc. I often do things that if I was on the receiving end of - Id start getting suspicious. 5 kills with the Type88 sniper rifle on Great Wall just now in one clip, despite having 120ping good enough? Everyone does these things.
Im not saying there are no hackers at all. But if the game really is as bad as everyone makes out, then Im glad I left those nade/revive streets alone and got into the proper areas of this game.

There are three occasions that I can recall of blatant hacking.

The first was in a Warlord server where one guy with a DAO jumped down into the main room in the palace, double shotted the guy jumping in through the right side window, snap turned and gibbed me who was standing in the archway and then did another 180 to empty his clip into the guy running into the door. This took maybe...three seconds.  I've never seen anyone turn that fast and accurately ever.

Second one was a guy going by the name Lord_Xerox. He would burst-fire his MGs from the J-10 into the water exactly where we happened to be, ALL the time. He managed to find us at over 500 meters altitude in a hawk. When we finally capped out the Chinese, he continued his rampage until he ran out of every kind of ammo. He then bailed over the North village where he shot the guy in front of him when he landed and single shotted me just when I turned the corner of the building behind him.

Last one was a guy on Karkand who could find any and all of the spots where I hid, no matter what. No commander on the other team. Take the Warehouse CP for example. There's C4 at the back gate, he's capping the flag. The second a Vod goes over the threshold, he blows it. I enter and am immediatly greeted with a grenade. Dead. I spawn again and return to the now american Warehouse. He's running around there and I'm up on the catwalk near the back wall. I manage to headshot him and go over to the giant concrete slab over in the top left. The second he spawns, he chucks a nade up there, lies down and waits. I jump, and get shot out of the air in two shots.

There are definitely hackers out there, and while these ones may or may not be, they are not nearly enough to make me want to quit. I expect I will meet more in the future, but that wont ever stop me. As Snake said, skill over hacks anyday.

Honestly I've only seen a few people hack and glitch in my over 400 hours of BF2, and most of those have been command hacks like the multiple vehicle drops.  I think it comes down to the server you play in and how dedicated the admin. staff is to keeping the cheaters out.  The bottom line is find a good clean, respectable server and make a home there.

1) first example you mention i would say that DOA guy you described was doing wierd things indeed.

I dont see any "blatant" hacking as you call it in your 2nd and 3rd example though:

2)  in your second example it really matters if:
  a) that J-10 pilot had good situational awareness AND was using his minimap to every inch
  b) had an able commander that also spotted enemies (red dots !) OUTSIDE Uav range - only very few commander seem to be able/willing to do so, alas ...
  c) had considerable Wake experience (J10 Wake jet whore), while using a) and b)
so, only in the absence of a), b) and c) i would find it questionable, but not from your description

3)not a convincing "hack-example" there, maybe your opponent played  a 1000 hrs on - Karkand-Only- 24/7
