I have a friend who bought 2142, installed, and registered the game.  He then tried to play it but it would not run on his POS comp.  He gave me the game, but when I created my account it and tried to login it says "Cd-key has already been registered (or something like that)."  Is there anyway around that so I don't have to sent EA a letter and 10 bucks or have to buy a new copy of the game?

Thanks

No, you need to take your friends EA account.

Or, alternatively you could keep on playing BF:2 and forget about 2142. (a stupid game)

You could then get Bad Company.

Ha, i have planned your life for you!

Then you won't be able to play. The CD-Key is binded to your Accunt

That will have no effect at all... BF2142 is a multiplayer client, just like WoW, you will have to log in in order to play online.. all he needs is an account, and there is only one account pr. cd-key...

No. The CD-key is bound to your account, but you can log in on other clients than your own, e.g. i can log onto my freinds PC on his Battlefield disk with MY account... As long as you have an account you can log into any client

And he could request a username and password reminder...

If your CD-Key is on his client yes. You can't login on anyones client while online with theirs cd-key in use. You will just get the CD-Key is already in use.

uhm, no.. you cannot register an account with that CD-key more than one time... if you want to you can play e.g. 50 players who have used the same CD key to INSTALL the game, but they will all have to have bougth their own game and use the accounts made from these individual CDkeys...

I havn't even said anything about register an account with the cd-key

You can use your CD-key EVERYWHERE. Even on Netcafe...
All you have to do is change it and then it will work. No need to register just login

Do you guys think it would be better just to send EA a letter along with a $10 money and get a new key?

I doubt you will get one.. since EA only publishes the game (thereby only selling it in large quantities to stores).. they don't sell individual copies / keys

Yes, if you have lost your cd key you can write EA a letter and send them a $10 money order and they will email you a new cd key.

I tried my friends username and pass and it would not work.  I think I am just going to buy the damn thing new.
