I want everyone in america to read this email. I want the whole world to read this email, especially those of you that hate our nation and hate the war because you have no clue what's going on there and just go by what the drive-by media tells you.

I don't understand arabic marine and I don't particularly care for insurgents. Tbh I don't really care about Iraqis but I would like to see them self determine and to be free from external dabbling in their affairs.

This guy gives the whole 'making great buddies with the locals' story but for this one family how many other families out there who will not get water, electricity or security. And how long will it be until that informer household has their throats slit by Al Qaeda or the insurgents. Don't get me wrong he seems like a nice well meaning guy but he's completely deluded.

It's probably a genuine story but it's being used as propaganda. How do we know that this one story is representative of the situation there? GS OIF II doesn't give that impression. He has similar stories of befriending locals but he is wise to the situation, unlike this guy.

Yeah it's a nice story and all but how is this supposed to make me change my views on America? All this 'proves' is that a soldier over there does (or at least is trying to do) a good job -- which I never doubted in the first place.

For the record this guy states: "well ramadi was once dubbed by everyone as the worst city in the world. but we have done such a great job here that all the families in the area have worked with us on driving out the insurgency and that we work directly with the IA and the IP’s. the city has been cleaned up so well that the IP’s do most of the patrols now and we go out with them to hand out candy and toys to the children."

Uh-huh...............and what's going on where there aren't soldiers to watch? The fact that Ramadi is now safe doesn't mean you're winning. It could (and probably does) mean that the insurgents have moved to somewhere with less military personnel.
