wasn't there a women pilot in the group for the first time?  it might cause a tiff if she was involved in an error which caused the crash.
I believe its the Thunderbirds which have the female pilot, not the angels. Correct me if mistaken.
Actually I believe it was the Angels, Its possible that both groups have female pilots.
This year there are no female pilots in the BA.

The Blue Angels does not have a female pilot but does have a female officer on the team, along with female enlisted crew members. The Tbirds have 2 female pilots, #3 and #6.

females in BA: just a thought, guys.  lets concern ourselves with bigger issues such as feelings towards the crash, personal experiences with BA/Thunderbirsfuture of BA and other airshows, pros/cons to high performance jet shows, etc...

I know there was one time the Thunderbirds lost four of their pilots in one crash... I could only imagine what it was like then... Luckily I was either too young to understand or not even born yet...

SAme here 18 on the 10th. But I am having a good month so I don't really care. I mean yes he was a fellow soldier and sorry to hear this and my thoughts are with him and his family. But hey I met the girl of my dreams and we hooked up so this is a perfect month, for me anyways.

We had over 750,000 people over the two days. Too much money to be made I guess..

After watching the news some more, I listened to a conversation over the phone with a witness.  Apparently, the pilot had altitude and then dropped as if there were a loss of power or control. That sucks.

I just learnt the news browsing my news site while having a second tab opened at the other Blue Angels topic and I told myself : Damn, what a coincidence...

That sucks, these guys risk their life to entertain people on the ground...

A buddy of mine was down there, he said the plane crashed into base housing.

Ok I am braced, hit me with how airshows or precision flight teams should now be outlawed to prevent this from happening again.

My buddy tells me that only the pilot died. A few other people were treated and released. I will update as I can.

Update:  Word on the base is the pilot clipped a pine tree and was to low to recover.

No.

Thats like saying commercial Airlines should be outlawed from flying to prevent any of them from crashing..

Everything has a certain amount of danger to it.. some things more then others.

Flying a jet is like riding a very aerodynamic bomb.

For those thinking internationally

USA = Blue Angels, flying F/A-18 Hornets

UK   = Red Arrows, flying British Aerospace Hawks

Australia = Roulettes, flying PC-9s

And we could go on, the biggest difference is the aircraft they fly, but all represent the prestige aerobatic display teams of their nations.

Outlawing things just makes more a rebel of people. Its just human nature to break the rules. We all love the thrill of defying something. I feel bad for the pilot, but something must have really gone wrong. Airshows are rehearsed days prior the actual show to plot the show center, waypoints for the turns so they can all be done in an orderly fashion. You can't just hit a 100 foot pine tree out of nowhere. It's tough because everyone except for #1, 5 and 6 fly paint so they can't really see whats ahead of them. And that's why that Tbird incident with all the 4 pilots happened because no one could react other than #1. I guess I should stop driving paint before I get into my own accident.

When you clip a tree, you ain't got much of a choice. I am quite certain, given a choice, he probably woulda LOVED to been able to eject.

I would think a lot of people would have liked to eject...

A bit off topic, last time i saw jet's up close was about...2 weeks ago, doing a quick bit of work experience at RAF cottesmore, a Harrier Squadron. Was directing planes out on the apron, so got pretty close. Two pilots had a drag race down the strip, that was pretty sweet.

Back on topic, my heart goes out to not only the familys/relatives, but also the members of their Squadron. from my experience on bases, any military group is extremly tight knit, so this would be devastating to all concerned.
