Theres a top fan right above the zalman that pulls out the air and plus i wanted it to cool off the NB heatsink and the heatsink above the zallman.Viper007Bond wrote:
Why did you mount your Zalman vertically? It works a lot better horizontally as it can blow air out the back of your case.

(All together, this costed me 8000 Swedish Kronors, which is Around $1280, and the gfx card costs around $300 in sweden, if you count that 1 dollar is worth 6,33 kronors)
*EDIT*
I've heard of the 9000 series, do they fit Windows XP? Because Vista Sucks, badly.

And no, Vista does not suck.
Yes it does, every game requires around 2.0 Ghz for XP, while Vista requires 2.4 Ghz... That's 0,8% higher (if i'm not wrong)CrazeD wrote:

Tho Vista looks nicer, and it doesn't matter that much if you have a superpc, (ehm) like me.
Also, DirectX 10.1 only works with Vista, thats why i wondered if those 9000 cards would work with XP.
Since i'm keeping my XP.
Oh no, 2.4 GHz...Deleted_screen wrote:

It does. But the new Laptops has Dual Core, which is supported already from 1.8 Ghz or 1.6 Ghz (In CoD4, that's the game i've been checking).Poseidon wrote:

What i ment was Single Cored processors. (No-one uses that anymore so w/e)

Anything above DirectX9 will not work on XP. Don't keep your hopes up for MS to realise that Vista fails and add support for XP. Not gonna happen. The 9 series will work perfectly on XP, just that the effects of the DirectX will not be used to their full potential as they will be running in DX9.
I thought DX10 was supported by XP, but it's not?Zimmer wrote:

Nope. No effort to hack it onto XP has prevailed either. Sorry to burst your bubble...Deleted_screen wrote:

Okey, that's bad... I don't have money for Vista either... Linux?...Zimmer wrote:

Anyway, lemme get some question answered please:
Does the 9000 Series work with XP at all?
If they do, is it even good to bother buying one, if XP only takes DirectX 9.0c?
else if not, what cards do you recommend? I was thinking of 8800GT since it's the best card out now, but what about ATI Radeon?
Kind of pointless, but yes, they work on XP.
Linux doesn't support DX10.
