why is it that fucking everybody think that he declared victory aboard that carrier 4 years ago, he didn't ffs. read what he said and then try say that he declared a pure victory.
Sorry I believe he said 'Mission Accomplished' - BIG difference.
well why the fuck did you say that he declared victory 4 years ago then. if you already know that he said mission accomplished, and that he then said that we got a bigger fight ahead of us (blablabla), then why the fuck do you undermine him by saying that he declared victory, if some noob-head comes by and doesn't know shit about what he said then he will just be yet another brainwashed prick.

and sorry for the language.
We won the battle in a heart beat, just like we can do to anyone.  That mission was accomplished.

We are talking about how the OP thinks Bush is an idiot for still being in Iraq.

Idiot, maybe, but not because of Iraq.

Hear hear.

The biggest battles are being lost in the political arena. Unfortunately, in Iraq at least, that directly affects our troops.

But that does bring up the question: If this is obviously a failure in politics/communication, how are more troops going to help?

And as for Iran. If nothing else, from a logistical point of view, attacking Iran at this time would be strategic suicide. We're already stretched thin. If we were to attack Iran, what exactly are we going to attack them with? Bombs and missiles make things easy, but it's boots on the ground that get things done.

Iraqi deaths survey 'was robust'

BBC wrote:

The British government was advised against publicly criticising a report estimating that 655,000 Iraqis had died due to the war, the BBC has learnt.
Summary:
The British government has been advised not to publicly criticize the Lancet report, which has estimated 655,000 Iraqi deaths due to the Iraq war. Ministry of Defense chief scientific adviser has stated that the survey’s methods were “close to best practice” and that the study design “robust.” Documents released from the Foreign Office include an e-mail conversation between two officials concerning the Lancet report in which one official stated, “Are we really sure the report is likely to be right? That is certainly what the brief implies.” The officials comment being directed at the significantly higher number of deaths in Iraq. While the response from another official stated, “We do not accept the figures quoted in the Lancet survey as accurate.” In an attempt to reconcile with accepting the methodology and that of its findings, government officials, have issued a written statement stating, “However, the Lancet figures are much higher than statistics from other sources, which only goes to show how estimates can vary enormously according to the method of collection.”

Meaning -- the methodology that is "better" does not dictate better accuracy....wtf?
