This incident may wipe out half the parliament! It just goes to prove what I've always repeated: you can't send a bunch of regular soldiers to fight guerrillas or suiciders. This happened deep inside the Green Zone for Christ's sake!!!

I'll be posting a longer, more structured OP on Iraq later on addressing some of the issues that arise from this incident. I was planning on posting it anyway, this incident just reinforces some of my arguments.

It was a cafe reserved for MP's or something.

One MP is dead. Yeah, this is pretty bad because it was in the Green Zone. That and that bridge was pretty much wrecked totally.

So your all dancing around rejoicing in an apparent failure of US military security. Pretty sick if you ask me. More proof your all Al-Queda, Hamas, Fatah, Hezbollah loving assholes. Freedom doesn't come cheap. You want Iraq to be left alone but will cry a river when nothing is done about the genocide that will follow. You want the US to stay out of other people business then stay the fuck out of ours. We made it our business so fuck off. If you want to do something about it other than spew hot air be my guest. But your all a bunch of wimps unless you go help out your fellow "freedom fighters".

No matter how you try and suggest it, we people who question US policies in the ME are not happy that people are dying nor do we support the terrorists. Seams that anyone who asks questions is a terrorist supporter or jubilant that our warnings are all coming true or anti American.................were as you are free to question every facet of homeland policy, yet can't bring yourself to question foreign polices............... why? Because its far away and doesn't directly affect your day to day life. That's the conclusion I am reluctantly drawing.

Its running red as it is. And I would argue (as would most Iraqis) that America's continued presence is the reason it runs so red.

There won't be a genocide if the US leaves. The US are the only people stopping the blatantly dominant Shia in Iraq from gaining power, hence all the bombings/murders etc. When the US leaves, Iran will send people and money to fill the vacuum and right or wrong, this is exactly what Iraq needs. It will be messy for a while, but no more so than the current state of affairs, and at least it won't be UK/US troops getting nailed everyday.

It became our business when we sent troops over there.

No one is celebrating or rejoicing about this, just saying "we told you so". Nobody wanted Iraq to become the crisis zone it is today, it's just those of us who said it was a bad idea and would be terribly counter productive are being proved more and right day by day.

It's the people who can't admit it was a bad idea that has become a catastrophic failiure I don't understand. The ones who make ludicrous excuses about fighting for our freedoms and the people of Iraq, who in many ways were better off under Saddam.

Comments like this:

Make me laugh.

How does that work? By that logic it would be perfectly acceptable for anyone to do anything and then just say "we made it our business, fuck off". Can you not see the hypocrisy and flawed logic in that phrase? Might makes right, is not a proper foreign policy.

ATG wrote:

Yes. Because that will mean that this crisis is one step closer to being over. It's not going to improve until the troops are gone. It'll get much worse immediately after they leave, I would imagine, but then calm down later. The Iraqi people need to sort this out themselves.

We're getting a little off topic here.  Subject at hand is an explosion in the Iraqi Parliament which is in the green zone.  Honestly, don't really even think there's much to say on the incident cause they full story ain't out yet.

Holy crap, can we hire the insurgents to do the same thing in britain? There's a LOT of weeding to be done here, and an explosion definetly wouldn't go amiss.
