What's the term for a college that gets good enough it then qualifies for a university?

Anyway, it was the union of one of those. Felt like a high school party. Everyone was sitting down, there was about two girls drunk off their face falling over each other on the 'dancefloor'. Chick I was trying it on with the whole night ended up having a boyfriend. £2 a pint was kinda nice though.

polytechnics are former working class open-colleges that did courses in plumbing, electricity, and retard education

a few were granted 'university' status and were able to give out degrees under some shitty labour policy to give retards degrees, too

In America the same sort of thing is called Community College. But as I understand it the level of education provided at a CC is a lot lower than a Polytechnic.

Some polytechnics in the US are almost on par with some ivy leagues. A lot of major architectural students and such go to places like Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, to name one of the more famous ones anyways.

in england they're 'meant' to be on par, and are as far as official 'degrees' go... but there's a lot of social stigma about it. england is still far more class-obsessed and hierarchical than the united states, where education seems to be a great social leveller. over here there are still the 'old boys' schools and the 'old boys' universities. polytechnics were set up over here as part of progressive working-class mobilisation and so their stigma as being socialist, working-class institutes - 'peoples colleges' - has kinda stuck. that's why i thought keele was a polytechnic... it was set-up as a working class college. the only times i have ever heard keele mentioned by other students is when calling it a marxist fort, haha.

Around here, polytechnics are great engineering schools (as well as for other majors as well). The two in my state also have pretty big focuses on agriculture and farming as well ().

The ranking from 'lowest' to 'highest' is:
Community College
California State University _city_
California Polytechnic _city_
University of California _city_

I applied to a few cal states, a few UC's, and a few cal polys. The only one I didn't get in to was a cal poly They only look at SAT I's and not SAT II's, which I didn't do so great in, and kicked major ass in, respectively.
