I have a suggestion: for the period that the voting is open, the thread with the poll should be stickied to stop it getting lost on the second or third page. Threads can move pretty far whilst you're asleep.
There should be another listing for a "Derailment Hall of Fame," along with the top thread-burglars of the month.
