how hard did they have to look to find these people? where do they live? a mormon founded community?
The Communist News Network is a joke. . . . .
Thanks to you as well... I think the simple truth to this might be that familiarity breeds contempt. The conflict between the Israelis and the Muslims in the Middle East reminds me of how vicious the conflict between Catholics and Protestants used to be in Northern Ireland. They're both conflicts that involve people with similar religions.David.Podedworny wrote:
Thank you. See why cant the rest of the world be more like us? What i dont get is this how come we 2 people with probably 2 opposite belief's come to agree on something and others cant do the same. I mean the Muslims and Jew's are so similar yet they fight. Over land? Gimme a break there's plenty of it to go around we catholics have a claim to the holy land but we wont kill for it, we have Rome and thats good enough. So why cant the muslims and jews split jeruselam? I mean the muslims have mecca and the jews have really nothing other then parts of germany(Before christianity germany was judaism's second holy land but hitler destroyed the temple's and synagogues which dated back to 200 b.c.). Is 2000sq ft that worth killing over?(I'm talking about the temple mount next to the wailing wall).
I'm probably better adapted to evangelical Christians than most atheists are because I once roomed with one in college. We agreed on more things than you would expect, and what probably made it easier to deal with was that this guy practiced what he preached. He was a very tolerant person despite his strong faith.
He also understood the important principle that, just because he believes something is wrong, not everyone else does. He held himself to a very rigid moral code, but he didn't expect me to do so, since I had different beliefs.
In return, I did what I could to respect his beliefs.
You said it... Although I'd argue that Cheney really is evil...David.Podedworny wrote:

That was a while ago. This thread isn't really about 'my religion/atheism is better than your religion/atheism" (delete as appropriate) than just the news and biases.sergeriver wrote:
Let's see, a poll conducted by ghettoperson, who I respect a lot, says we have too many Religious threads. Ok, thanks again dude.Kmarion wrote:

No prob...lol
They disappeared for quite a while, and have just reappeared. I don't have much of a problem with them, I just don't think they really get anywhere.
Anyway, back on topic.
That particular show on CNN has had multiple problems with the statements/opinions of its panel of "experts" so it has no credibility whatsoever. Not that it would have had much to begin with, being a CNN product.
However, this brings up an interesting point: Tolerance does not equate to acceptance. There is a distinct difference. Tolerance is that you don't actively attempt to change someone's behavior, but not that you necessarily agree with it. Acceptance is the belief that someone's behavior is OK and you don't mind it at all.
There is much that we have to tolerate in America to live up to the ideals of our Founding Fathers and the documents they wrote. There is nothing in there about accepting all behaviors for fear of offending someone.
People need to grow thicker skin and realize that the choices they make in life have all kinds of consequences, which belong solely to those making the choice. If you choose to live in a manner that is not "mainstream" because it makes you happy, then you must take ownership of the repercussions, not whine and get the ACLU on your side, suing the bejesus out of everyone because they wounded your innerfuckingchild with some kind of remark.

Strangly though I think people prefer it over fox... It's just a sad reality we have to deal with.fadedsteve wrote:

Which is the sad reality: the fact that people prefer CNN over Fox, or that Fox is allowed to use "News" as part of the channel's name without being charged with false advertising?Miller wrote:

so if i decide that the best thing to do with a christian is crucify them on telephone poll, they need to just shut up and deal with it? I like the way you think.FEOS wrote:

Well that is certainly taking things a bit too far. Let me clarify: Until you start infringing on another person's rights, your choices and their consequences are yours and yours alone. Obviously, when you kill someone, you are inherently infringing on their rights...and that's where government comes into the picture. Notice I didn't say ACLU, Rainbow Push Coalition, GLBA, or any damn other group.Reciprocity wrote:
