IMO most wars are just excuses for gov't officials to spend money on "defense" which coincidentely benefits their private companies that funded their campaign to get into power. The old scratch my back i scratch yours.

A highly respected british satirist did a documentary about it a while ago. Takes a little while to get going and has some annoying film segments but it delves deep.

It's not like this is new policy. The same thing happened in Afghanistan. Pallets of cash, straight from the Federal Reserve, dropped into a war-zone.
Good thing Bush wants unlimited spending. Think about how many more pallets we could give away every month!
Did you know that if a military personnel goes and knocks down a door the Iraqi who owns the door gets a lot of money to replace it. This is trying to win the hearts and minds of the people that we go door to door through. Snitches get paid, informates get paid, local translators get paid, etc. Not accounting for all of the money but thats probably where a lot of it goes.
