Yes. I'm sorry and I'm serious. I really tought that EA sucks (only sometimes). Their master server is or was down. Everybody knows that already (enough threads about it). All of us, of course also I, tought EA would sucks. It's surely also their problem but all games with Gamespy are fucked up. I tried to play Halo today, that also  does'nt works with gamespy. Everyone told me "Fuck ea!" or "OMG I HATE EA" and it was'nt EA. Thanks for the hate support, but we should start to hate Gamespy... I start: "God damnit! I hate Gamespy!!!" lol You're next.

Edit/my english sux.

This is a good chance for you to get in touch with reality, because, sadly, it looks like you need it bad.

EA chose Gamespy as a partner in the first place.
So it's EA's fault that we have connect to Gamespy to run our EA-Games, so i think you can blame them too.
But i don't really mind.

It's Gamespy and it's not limited to EA's games.  Atari's TDU utilizes Gamespy for its servers so I can't play that either.

Does anyone know if the "maintenence" every Tuesday is actually gamespy maintenence, not EA? I find it quite amusing that I haven't really understood the way the stats were handled until Monday when EA blamed Gamespy databases for the problem, until then it had all seemed to be an 'EA stats system'. If you want to be exact, it isn't gamespy's/IGNs fault either, it's their ISP. Their ISP lost connection to most of Europe, hence making the system unusable. Maybe they should have a European server instead of centralising everything in America...

So then when servers go down all of America don't get to play? NO LOGIC WHATSOEVER in your sentence.

Erm are you sure you read what I said? Instead of centralising, ie putting all servers in America, they could have put a european server in Europe and one in austral asia, therefore not relying on what seems to be one line (ie a single point of failure) to connect the gamespy servers in america to everyone else in the world. I think you'll find that does make sense, I won't wait for your apology though.

Afaik gamespy actually handle all the servers, EA doesn't run them so they are in effect both the same thing, see:

... in the past we've done just that and there have been occasional service problems affecting various titles, so instead we took the decision to host with selected server partners and a dedicated games matchmaking/account hosting service - both sets of whom are considered professionals in their field. With EA's speciality being the creation of games, and server hosts specialising in hosting servers this is surely the best solution, and yet still there are issues.
EA have outsourced all their server side stuff to IGN/gamespy, IGN/gamespy keep their servers centralised in America, with a pipe connecting it to the rest of the world, when that pipe fails the world loses the ability to login to any IGN/gamespy managed game. If they had not centralised all connections here but spread the service out a bit they wouldn't sit there with a single point of failure, I would bet they RAID their drives, have server backups etc etc, but you also need redundancy on the connection to the world.

If they spread out all of their servers, when they need to do critical updates - it would take a LOT longer. And updates are done every week.

I think you are clutching at straws here, if you initiate an update on a single server or 20, it takes the same amount of time because you can run the updates in parallel, don't imagine a human walks down to the server and clicks buttons to make this work, it can be done through software. In fact if the servers were seperated out, instead of doing an update a week that caused people to be unable to connect/play, they could update one server cluster at a time, then when the US server was being updated, US players would default over to the EU or AU server, same with other locations.

I think there should be a cap on how many new threads members with only so little time should be allowed to make !

The forum is filling fast these days with garbage threads like this one with no purpose what so ever !

I'm sure an admin will decide if this thread stays open or not, KillahStyle seems to like making several threads about this topic, on slightly different tangents, he'll continue to do so until an admin tells him its not a good idea.
